Secret getaway for a quiet and safe family camping trip! Beautiful lake. No swimming in lake. Great place to have a bonfire and relax in the wilderness. I highly recommend the restaurants homemade brats!!

I loved it here! I love the spot we were on it was just perfect. Though the women's toilet room was horrid smelling that rest of the place I loved! And we had a great time with our neighbor campers who were very kind and welcoming, we even sat in front of the camp fire and had some good conversation. This was our first time here at Shabbona Lake let alone in Illinois too we came from Missouri. Way better than the city if Chicago.

Great park, but I'm giving it a low rating for very poor bathroom facilities. I've used pit toilets that were much cleaner and less smelly. The nature part of the park is great, first come first serve camping spots are much less nice than reserved spots, just fyi.

My friends and I just camped in this forest preserve and we loved it so much. Family friendly, they have play ground for kids and the shower areas are well maintained. The porta potties are very accessible and not scary to go into as well. Highly recommended. My family loves kayaking and paddle.boarding, we tried checking the sunset but got tired π so we only checked out sunrise. They also have store. Our first encounter to see hundreds of ducks parading the lake. So beautiful.

I believe the minimum age required is 18 years old.
Yes
We had 3 tents 2 people each. 1 campsite . saw other sites with more people
Yes
No dogs allowed here but if just the family, try Raging Waves in Yorkville. It's a bit of a drive but well worth it. https://www.ragingwaves.com
Open for camping but I don't think bath houses open till May 1.
Yes on the drive in I saw quite a few still in bloom.
$80 for 1 hours in a lund $125 per hour in a jumbo pontoon
I think you can buy firewood there. Not sure though.
Yes you can but if your going to rent a boat you might want to check first the concetion stand and restaurant are closed
Walking, running, hiking....guess u could use mountain bikes
Shabbona is a fairly big place and is for the most part rustic. Wi-fi, generally speaking, only goes out from its source, about a hundred feet. So, unless the restaurant has it; I would say no. Cell coverage is good...as you are not that far from civilization. So if your smartphone has hotspot capabilities; your good to go.
They do have some walk on sites first come, first serve; but they are limited. You can reserve tent sites at reserve america.com
Dont think so but I know there's blue gill redear sunfish sm mouth bass black/white crabbie walleye muskie n perch
Not difficult at all. Where bug spray.
You should really call them πgood luck! It's a beautiful place to camp & π
There is a boat launch in the campground if you are staying there. There is another one in the picnic ares next to the marina.
In the picnic area I didn't see open fire pits but they did have then in the camping area.. I don't think taking your own grill would be a problem
Yes bring your grill. I did not see any supplied. There are plenty of picnic tables, being a table cloth, not very clean, lots of birds.
Wednesday or Thursday early afternoon.
No, they won't allow a permit that long. One month maximum
$25 a day except holiday weekends, then it's $30 a day. Spaces 1-60 are first come first served (except for the host spots). All the rest are reserved. Shower building is pretty good. All spots have electric and fire rings.
12" as always no ice is safe ice and always check ice conditions for yourself.

Please call the park office at 815 824 2106, they handle all the camping details.
The campground is open year round.
You need to call them for rates.
The lake has a 10 horse power limit. Boats with larger motors are allowed as long as they do not use the larger motor. You could also bring a larger boat and use electric motor only. All non- powered vessel such as kayaks, canoe, paddle boats, paddle boards, small sail boats, are also allowed
Yes there are plenty of spots to set up camp with tents, look over the rules, but I believe it is 2 tents per site.
I believe ck in is 3pm for reserve sites.
Yes alcohol is allowed in the day use side of the park as well as on the lake. Alcohol is prohibited in the campground.
You can sit or stand on the bow of your boat and fish with a rod and reel but you cannot bowfish!

Yes, you can bring your dogs. No swimming is allowed.
No it does not close for water fowl season. Hunting is not allowed in that vicinity
They don't close in the winter. The bait shop/boat rental closes at the end of October, but there's ice fishing on the lake in the winter. Hours where the lake and park are open are April thru October 6:00 AM β 10:00 PM November thru January 8:00 AM β 5:00 PM February thru March 8:00 AM β 6:00 PM

Yes there is a playground and it's located in the northernmost point of Lake Shabbona. You have to go past Canvasback Cove to get to the playground.
