This is a great place to visit if you are anywhere within a couple of hours drive! It is so well done and the self guided tour explains so much about how it all formed!

Fun excursion not too far from Jackson. For $7 you get to take a walking tour of the only petrified forest in the eastern United States. Depending on your pace it can take between 30 to 60 minutes to walk the trail. There is a walking trail as well as a small indoor museum and rock shop. You can even buy pieces of petrified wood.

A wonderful experience! Lots of Petrified logs and a great gift shop.
A Woogie's Love
We enjoyed our visit. The trails are pet friendly! The gift shop is very interesting and the gentleman was super friendly. They have a very small campground there. It is nothing fancy, but the price is awesome! We stayed 5 nights so we could enjoy the area.

The only portion that will be missed with a stroller is the back half as there are quite a few climbs and drops due to the terrain.
Yes it was 5 or $7 but well worth it gift shop has some really nice jewelry and things you could buy and the little Museum was fantastic has fossils in there of different animals I would go again if I'm ever in the area
I would plan on spending about an hour. Gives you time to read all the plaques throughout the trail.
Don't believe they rent those, however the trails are wide enough for a scooter
Not sure. Call them. They are very friendly. Family owned.
I used a credit card.
About a quarter-mile
Yes there is a gift shop with many small petrified wood pieces for sale.
Yes, you can buy bags or buckets of sand with assorted gems and minerals mixed in. They have a flume where you can sift through them. https://www.mspetrifiedforest.com/Store/printable.php?productID=1
Yes
Don't forget to buy the gems to use the sluice boxes
I do not know, but I did notice rocks and artifacts for sale in the gift shop. Many did not originate from those woods or even this country.
Cypress Swamp along Natchez Trace.
I don't think they ever had one there good luck and congrats!😊
We pulled our 37ft rv in today. Extremely clean. Rusticly Beautiful. Plus full hookups. We were amazed and excited to do the tour in the morning
I'm not sure about Vicksburg, this museum is in Flora.
We currently are not buying petrified wood pieces as we have a sizeable backstock. Thank you for asking!

Parts of it are handicap friendly from what I remember. The full route though is full of inclines, bumps, and a few roots. I would definitely say the full path can be difficult for someone who can't walk for long periods.
It is a nice forest with exposed petrified wood. It is labeled and you read about each stop. You can also use your phone to hear the info.
I did go to this park .their I took some pictures and one of the picture that I took . they had a man standing they in between the trees with a cofedrate uniform on . I did not think about it to much but my grandson pointed out the man in the picture .I told him it may have been one of the people that ran the place that was dress like that for tourists... I have lost this picture when my computer went down .I so sorry I lost it ..
