This hotel is VERY old in an old "sketchy" part of town. When booking, I imagined a Holiday Inn or Double Tree type of hotel owned by the Gaylord for more budget minded travelers, and definitely thought it would have to be well maintained and modern. WRONG. It is more in line with a Motel 6. First, half the rooms have exterior entrances like a motel. Everything is so old and worn out looking. They can't have done any remodeling since at least the 70's. You can't sit on the toilet and open the bathroom door, it is that tight, and the ceiling of the shower is only about 7 feet high. I'm not tall (5'6") but the shower head was almost eye level with me, I had to bend down a little to get the top of my head. Did I mentioned it is next door to an shut down Shoney's? To be fair, there were good points to it (thus 3 stars instead of 1): The pool in the middle of the hotel is a bit odd, but I could see where kids would find that really great! I did get in the hot tub myself and it was nice. I got a drink from the restaurant in the lobby and it was a really good Bloody Mary, but warning, HAVE YOUR ID! They will NOT serve you without it, even if you are 80 years old. Also, the beds were fairly comfortable, despite everything else being out of date. Lastly, I do think that the hotel was clean, and wasn't worried about grossness.

This is my second review as the first one was written in haste and anger. We moved to an inside room (no outside window) and it was a lot better. If you’re staying here try to avoid the outside rooms particularly on the ground floor. The hotel also has conventions and while we were there a lot of the attendees had their kids with them, so it tends to get noisy. There’s a free shuttle service to The Resort Hotel (a sister property) and to the huge shopping mall where there’s a Madame Toussaud exhibition. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We discovered a taste of the true Nashville just across the road where there’s shops and places to eat and a great bar and grill called The Music City. Fantastic atmosphere, very friendly and brilliant live music every night. The hotel restaurant was good as well. The downtown shuttle needs to be booked in advance and takes 15/20 minutes depending on traffic. Nashville is not called The Music City for nothing. Every bar has a live act and the music is good. It’s also a party town, with party buses and wagons going up and down the streets all day and night. Lots to see and do but manic. Super friendly people and super service everywhere.

We'll definitely stay here again. The 3 stars are for the rooms because the entry door on our rooms didn't go all the way to the floor and we were on the exterior of the hotel. FYI it's closer to the Grand Ole Opry then you might think and we could have walked there. Our bus driver John was really concerned about our stay and made us feel well taken care of.

A little country, a little retro. The hotel is kind of dated but in a good way. Everything was well kept and clean with the staff more than happy to help from the front desk to the maintenance team. The eggs were powdered and not very good but they redeemed themselves with the delicious lunch options.
