We camped 1 night in late October 2021. The weather was hazy, sunny and just barely hot. I think the forecast was a high of 80 or 85… it feels hotter in a gravel campground under the expansive sky. You’ll need a shade structure as the sun is glaring and most sites don’t have any shade, this is obvious but cannot be overstated. The weather at night was perfect this time of year, though it was very gusty. Our tent held just fine (Core 9 person instant cabin). It staked down easily in the soil. The stores that sold firewood within the park were sold out by the time we inquired to buy any , around 1 pm. Plan to bring your own supply if you intend to have a fire as wood collecting is prohibited.

A perfect place to rest your head when visiting Death Valley National Park. The scenic drive through the park and hiking trails are awe-inspiring. I can't wait to visit again.

I loved being able to see the Milky Way from our campsite! And I love the desert! We unfortunately had an extremely rude camper next to us on our 2nd night. He was playing guitar plugged into an AMP! So rude! You couldn't even hear the person sitting next to you! PLEASE, PLEASE leave your music, barking dogs, etc. at home! Nature is to be enjoyed quietly. The campground's sites are extremely close to each other. More than most National Parks. Restaurants were outrageously expensive! As was gasoline. But we still enjoyed our stay!

Very well organized and clear cut spots for each camp. We were able to see the Milky way right from our camping spot. All the major tourist attractions were close to furnace creek campground, so it saves a lot of time. Drinking water is available at the visitor center.

Dogs are allowed at the campground in specific campsites, check when you make your reservation. Dogs however are NOT allowed on almost any of the trails in Death Valley. if you managed to find a trail that is not heavily trafficked, you can probably get away with bringing your dog on leash, that you should probably keep them on leash unless they have an excellent recall since there are wild animals about.
For our visit to the campground in February; all sites were reserved months in advance,
Yes this is the busy time of year. You could try just showing up but I wouldn't
There technically isn't a proper address for several locations in Furnace Creek California. The town is so small it works to address things by the location for them to be delivered properly. If you are looking to have a package delivered, consider the post office just down the street.
Just assume you won't have any. Basica calls and SMS worked on ATT but data was very sporadic and limited throughout Death Valley. Get off your phone and enjoy the park. 😀
I had cell service at Furnace Creek CG (Sprint/T-Mobile).
You need to contact the campground rangers for booking.. I think it's per person basis campsite. We stayed 8 people for 2 nights.. but next to us were 2 pax so depending on size they have sites available. We had put up 2 tents in one site.. there was enough space for 3 tents and 2 cars for us easily..
There is a 14 day limit at Furnace Creek Campground
Yes it is
Cable is going the way of the Doodoo Bird. Wifi hotspots work some places. Bring your own Dish and have solar/batteries to power your TV.
I would recommend a reservation and there are a limited number of sites with electric
I believe that REI rents all camping equipment including tents, sleeping bags and cooking equipment. You will have a blast in death valley
No. Bring your tent. Also get strong/sharp or preferrable steel poky spikes because some parts of the ground are concrete-like hard. Also get there before dark because it gets super dark there.
DEFINITELY not a backpacker freelance type thing. Open desert, hot, and barron. Everything is very far apart. Do not do it without reliable transportation and food and water. I've been there.
As far as i know no problem in autumn people went in after 10 pm
Kind of. At furnace creek campground no but at the resort yes. You have to pay for it I think it was 5.00 a person. You need own shampoo and soap.
