This place is phenomenal. They do flight demonstrations and discuss the variances of flight and hunting. They flew owls, a red tail and a turkey vulture. They also took time to ask questions. Very knowledgeable people working for a great cause and they are all volunteers. When they are done, you can tour 2 areas (walk) where they keep the birds. Note: Slightly long walk across a fairly flat field to get to the bleacher like seats. It is South Carolina; it will be HOT in the summer so I suggest appropriate clothes, a hat and a water.

I have not had the pleasure of visiting the center as of yet but I had a wonderful experience speaking to one of the women who works there. I rescued a young black vulture and she walked me through his care and assisted with how I would get him to the appropriate place to get medical attention.

We visited the Center on a road trip coming up the South Carolina coast. It is well worth you time and money to visit and support the center.

They responded as quickly as possible when we had a sick screech owl on our back porch. He unfortunately passed within minutes of our discovery. But the Conservation Center helped us identify the bird and also discussed potential hazards for the bird. Thank you for your time and help.

For most things out there, you need a fave to face. They have tons of things going on. Check the open days.
There are peregrine falcons as part of the Center's private collection.
Constance, We are thrilled that you want to visit us - we are currently open Thursdays and Saturdays from 10am to 1pm, with our education program and flight demonstration beginning promptly at 10:30am. Beginning in June we will be open Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10am-1pm. Please also note that pre-purchased tickets are stilled required to visit. We hope to see you soon.
For anyone interested in volunteering with their local licensed wildlife rehabilitation center, the best place to start is to look at the National Wildlife Rehabilitators Association website: nwrawildlife.org or their state natural resources department for a list of organizations. Then you can see which organizations may be closest to you and offering volunteering opportunities. Hope that helps!
Yes - we will be open. Tickets must be purchased in advance to visit, so please visit our website: https://www.thecenterforbirdsofprey.org/visit/guided-tours-and-flight-demonstrations/
Sure that would be fine

Don't think so, grass & dirt surface.
Our largest “hawks” in SC are red tailed hawks. It is likely that is what they were if they were on the ground in a yard. Could also have been juvenile bald eagles as they match your description. Next time snap a photo if you can! Thanks for sharing.

They will only take it if it s injured. If it a raptor call ther center and they might want it. If it is not a raptor you you can still ask them questions. Their number is on their website.
Call them and tell them you want to volunteer. They will have training at some point and they will let you know. They always need volunteers for different parts of the program. Some for the medical center and also for the education side
After the injured birds are rehabilitated they are released back into their habitat. Then the birds find their own nesting material and build nests only during mating season..
I'm with Shelley. Unless it's a school .or very large group. I'm sure it want matter.
More than likely you would have to go there and talk to someone they're not really set up to take phone calls and I'm not too sure about answering emails unless you can get in touch with one of the trainers
No, this is a private organisation run by a small staff and volunteers. Admission money goes to the care of the animals.
Your admission tickets are good for self guided tour for entire day. You can leave for lunch and come back.
