I have been shooting all my life and have been an instructor for 30 years and this is by far the best maintained and monitored public outdoor range I have been to. Very helpful range staff

If you are looking for a range to practice more practical shooting this isn't it. If you are looking to do Marksmanship training this is the range. Clean Range, Staff provides target stands you just need to bring targets. I decided I needed to leave after I was told "You are not using that gun belt" first thing upon arriving... unless I was a certified, law enforcement, etc to use one (LOL). I am a Marine, in the Infantry w/ 13 years still serving...I know what I'm doing. Next: I fired my pistol every breath and proper sight picture, I was told I was shooting too fast (every 3 seconds) and "the rules are everywhere so no excuse". I decided to excuse myself from the range after that. Over all its a clean range, but its for practicing marksmanship skills which is important. The RSO's stick to the rules which is great and keeps out riff raff.

Excellent range, very clean. The range safety officer is helpful and keeps it safe for everyone.

Very well run, excellent operator. Very safe, clean, and tiddy. Wasn't busy on a tuesday

Steel, Aluminum or Brass Casings are allowed. If you reload, take your spent casings with you. If you want to contribute them to the range, sweep them into the yellow sweeper buckets provided. Recycling this brass helps to provide target stands for 1st time range visitors. All shooters are encouraged to bring their own target stands after their first visit.
There is no charge. They have target stands you supply paper only targets. They dont allow shotguns nor rapid fire while shooting.
A little of both. When I was there, there was only a handful on the line so it was just a mutual thing. It's my understanding that during peak times the RSO will call it cold on a schedule...
Shotguns are not allowed
100 yard range and markers every 25, iirc...
Depends on what you mean by nearby. Twin ponds has a pistol and a rifle range that's pretty decent. There's boggy head but unless you're cautious and get lucky that no one is there I'd stick with twin ponds.
Range master told me that you can fire 3 rounds maximum burst then you must pause for a couple of seconds. If your looking to rapid fire or to fire standing go to the range on the opposite side of the forest The Boggy Head Rifle Range. There is not a range master there but you have to bring your own target stand and there are no trash cans so people leave their trash on the range so please bring a trash bag to collect your trash. http://www.dnr.sc.gov/shooting/ranges/boggyhead.html
The website says closed the 24th until the new year on the 2nd
No
Only for pistols is there a min. Anyone can shoot rifles with a adult to supervise.
No charge. Only paper targets. Range officer did have wooden frames with cardboard for mounting targets. Been a couple months since I was there.
Dont know now that its monitored.
