We as a family came over from Colorado springs. Had a great out door experience today. Nice hike in. The Boat captain had us happy we did choose this trip. Along with A+ girl crew . All three had education about this treatory of protected marsh and water way. I encourage you to tell about your trip. Want to retrun with the rest of our family. Plus ➕️ do bring friends. Prepare your self for a walk and enjoy it as you get to the point you want to be at. Alot to see. You are well cared for. So get you exploring hat on and make the drive. Post about you fun soon. Thank you ferry man with you A+ team.

My husband and I took the Bulls Island Ferry for the 1st time. Captains Al and Annie were very informative and friendly on our ride to and back. We only went to the beach and boneyard. I love to collect seashells so I was thrilled to find 4 sand dollars and several intact whelks. We did not go in to see the alligators on this trip, but others said it was amazing! We cannot wait to go back and bring our visitors with us!

A ticket on the Bulls Island Ferry does not include a guide on the island, but does include an orientation and map. You can hire a private guide for your group any time of year by contacting Coastal Expeditions, the company that runs the ferry.
There is a morning and afternoon BOAT, no ferry. So you can go in morning for the 7 to 8 hours OR the later boat for about 4 hours . Excellent trip. Highly recommend. You can even camp there at times .
We got lots of big shells, sand dollars, huge scallop shells(so many you star passing them up). A few huge conch type shells. Go early trip for sure
You can't rent the house on the island but there are guided overnight trips that you can sign up for through Coastal Expeditions. They are very popular and require planning/booking at least a year in advance. If you want to stay nearby and do a day trip to the island your best bet is to look for a hotel in north Mount Pleasant or maybe Georgetown. The landing that you meet at to take the ferry boat over to the island is in Awendaw but I don't think there are any hotels in Awendaw.
Hi! From March 1-November 30 the ferry runs Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. From December 1-February 28 is only on Saturdays. We also have special trips each month like beach drops and paddling trips. Check bullsislandferry.com for more information!
There is no shade.i would not recommend it.other then that you would have to ask those operating the ferry when you make your reservation if its allowed.
You can but you must call and make a reservation for the wagon because there is a limited amount of space for large items.

When I was there I saw a pregnant woman with a small child but they never left the area where the ferry docks. There's not much there except a few benches. Unless you are willing and able to hike 30 minutes or more it would be pretty boring just sitting by the dock. If you are able to hike it's a great place. I would recommend that if you do take small children you should start making your way back to the ferry with plenty of time spare. I don't think I would bring a 4 year old unless you plan on carrying them 30 minutes or so to the beach. Also once you reach the island you are stuck there untill the ferry leaves so make sure you come prepared to stay awhile. Everyone I went with had a great time but we were all adults.
Very well maintained, simple bathroom near the ferry landing.
$40 for adults, $20 kids 12 and under, families of 5 or more 1 child free
