Friendly and helpful staff. They are patient and doing their best with the high intake of pets.
Cain Reecer
Fantastic staff. Friendly and professional. They do a great job of taking care of the dogs. I've adopted a handful of dogs over the last 20 years from Cobb.
jonathan corley
Great visit nice and clean.

The staff seemed to be very informative and were helpful in getting all the things that we needed to adopt a cat. This is also where my husband got his dog, many years ago. The dog barked at him and the rest was history.

Not right now. I have 4 dogs and 2 cats. The ordinance is about containment. Dogs must be on leash. Dogs can’t be roaming free. Cats are ok outside and inside.
Can they not get a warrant? Surely allowing two dogs to perish in the hot sun when it was clear they were tethered and had no access to food and water is not okay. Thank goodness they did not since all of the neighbors intervened. You would not allow a dog to stay in a hot car. Surely you could get a warrant to enter they property from the police to provide water and shade on a 90 degree day when the dogs had been without water for two days? I feel this situation was handled incorrectly and want to understand why the agency tasked with ensuring the most basic of health and safety conditions for animals would have said that they would leave these dogs for another 24 hour and see what happened. I am disgusted and outraged. I expected better of Cobb County Animal Services. Oh wait, I can see from your answer below that you CAN get a warrant? Why was this not done for dogs clearly in distress in the hot sun, no shelter, no water, two days in?
yes! it is absolutely reportable! you can do it by phone or on line.
If the dog belongs to you, yes you can and the dog will be put up for adoption. If the dog is a stray, you can turn it in for them to hold for the owner to pick up. If the owner doesn't pick up they will put up for adoption.
In an instance such as barking, much like in this situation an officer was dispatched. If the dog is in a gated yard we can't put eyes in it. Barking we will issue a warning or ticket if we witness it. We need permission to enter property. Also we can't open a cruelty investigation off of neighbor complaint. A detective would have to follow up which they did. We don't have emergency detectives readily available unfortunately.
don't know, but that's 3 violations right there, maybe 4. I'd consider making a new report every day that I saw that. Can you document it? That might help.
are you asking if they have pics of pets up? yes: at their website and on their Facebook page.
Unfortunately no, an appointment is still required.
If you take him to the animal control shelter, he will be on the list of the first animals to get euthanized when the shelter is too crowded. I watched a woman cry her eyes out when they told her that, when she went to surrender her dog. Best Friends Animal Society is one that you can try. Call the shelter and ask them how you can get a list of rescues that might be able to help you. You can also Google rescue groups in Atlanta.
18 yrs old.
The only thing that Cobb County Animal Control requires is that you have a valid Driver's License or ID and whatever the current adoption fee is at the time.
I know that they can be chipped. I would assume that you could register them.
Call Cobb County Animal Services and ask them.
Online
Yes you can be a volunteer at this shelter, if you are an animal lover you are welcome 😊.
Call Cobb County Animal Services and they will assist you.
Yes we do, thank you 🙏🙏🙏
They are very good there and do their best to find good homes for a the cats and dogs that they get.
If its. Stray and you can catch him just take him down there. Tell them hes a stray and they'll take him.
If it's your dog you got to set up an appointment for an owner release.
There's no charge for adoptions fees You just pay for shots that are given to pets
Pour bleach on your trash bags. It deters most animals. The smell is too strong for them
I would recommend calling and asking. I volunteer at the animal shelter and know they cremate animals that pass away at the shelter. Remember, they are closed on Mondays except in the case of emergencies.
Yes, by appointment only. If you go to the website you can make an appointment to go meet the animals in person so you can better decide who you want to adopt!
I'm sorry to hear that you have to give her up. What type of dog is she and how old?
You have to call them and set up appointment to go and see what they have. I didnt see any puppies the two times I was there.
you still have to make an appointment
Call our office at 770-499-4136 to discuss options.
You need to call sheriff's dept. in the county/city you're in
Yes they are
Contact the shelter and they will go and tell noise compliance. They will have to do it or get a fine
No I can't
They don't, Best Friends Society does have ones for you to borrow but there is a wait list for those.
Yes. They will try, but that one may need your one on one help.
It's not particularly advised as it is very stressful on the animals
Well they never see grass and are a wild with no shots. All 16 piled in a wood box ..poop n pee all over Sooooo seems like abuse to me,,Why have them if treat them this way!! This person doesn't even see the wrong it ..that's Scary!!
Try Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue in Kennesaw, Friends to the Forlorn Pitbull Rescue in Atlanta.
Animal Control for your county
Yes. Dogs and cats are $115 which sounds like a lot of money but it is an incredible value when you consider that they get shots, microchipping, spay/neutering. It's a great deal and you're saving a life and gaining a family member.
Hard to find in shelters if you're not willing to wait awhile. Search rescues maybe or online.
I would go anywhere else. There are plenty of no kill shelters in the area.
Have you tried calling the pound to see what they can do?
They don't "get rid of dogs" after 2-3 weeks to make room for new arrivals. If you're dog hasn't been adopted, I'm pretty sure that you can get it back. I hope that you get your dog back!
Contact an organization call Best Friends Atlanta. They are one of the best free resources for this
There is only one officer per precinct. Calls are then prioritized to determine which get answered the quickest. In your case it is very likely an officer came out and didnt see the dog. Animal Services does not catch dogs, we take dogs that ate contained.
Animal Services is not an enforcement agency. Once calls are made, an officer can issue citations. It is one of the few enforcing agents we have. Once an offense is notated a citation and/or court order can be given, what happens next is up to a judge or officer of the court.
Yes, you can, though your dog has to remain leashed. Just let the lovely employees at the front desk know, and they'll explain the rest from there!
Yes you can.
All animals are $115. That includes spay/neuter, first set of shots, deworming, rabies, and microchip.
You will have to complete an open records request: https://cobbcountyga.mycusthelp.com/WEBAPP/_rs/(S(twlyddkegpmduhbqdk1g4mrt))/SupportHome.aspx
Let them know that their dogs are keeping you up. Maybe they will bring the dogs in at night.
No, but they'll be open tomorrow with their normal hours.
Unfortunately for liability reasons, you must be 18 years or older
If the animal that you're looking to adopt is already "up for adoption" you can usually take the animal home with you that day in probably less than an hour. If the animal is a "stray" it has to be held for 7 days to give the owner a chance to reclaim it, however you can get on a waiting list for that animal and if the owner doesn't reclaim it you'll have a chance to adopt it. Hope this helps!
Unfortunately it is not a return and is an owner surrender. If you don't live in County we won't take it. You will have to sign paperwork saying that you are okay with the animal being euthanized.
We do have a limited supply of food if people need it but we rely heavily on public donations. We can supply you with information on food pantries.

They hold the stray for 7 days to give an owner a chance to find their pet. After 7 days the animal is available for adoption. They keep animals as long as possible but space is limited and they must find space for intakes. There is no set time an animal is kept before euthanasia, it is decided on while regarding adoptability, health, demeanor, and length of time the animal has been at the shelter. There is no "list" or anything like that but adopters, volunteers, and advocates that keep up with the animals in the shelter generally know which ones should be considered "urgent" to get adoption or rescue soon. I should add that I am not a representative of this shelter and I am not speaking for them officially. I noticed your question had gone unanswered for a few days.
You can. You must come into the shelter and complete paperwork. You must be 18+ and pass a background check.
Yes
Already did many times....they say they are doing something but nothing ever happens...its a filthy mess ..if the tables were turned i would be evicted...
Only if they're strays. Please use a rescue group to re-home a bunny.
You can volunteer at Cobb County Animal Control.
Please call 770-499-4136 ext. 5720
it's illegal for the cat to be outside at all. animals in heat must be kept up. very dangerous for the cat: disease, paradites, other cats, dogs, cars, weather, foxes, coyotes. cats very destructive to environment: as non-native predators responsible for decline and extinction of bird and small mammal and reptile species. there are rescue groups that will spay, talk to owner about proper care. blanking on name right now sorry.
They have a whole lot of huskies and German Shepherds from puppies up to Adults
You take the pet to Cobb County Animal Control and turn it in using the entrance to the far left marked for animal turn in.
If you return the dog to the shelter there wont be a fine. Call us so that you understand what it means for the dog
police emergency
please don't. this is not a no-kill facility. take it down to the atlanta humane society on howell mill.
no.
As it stands right now, it is not legal to tether your dog unless the owner is within eye-shot of the dog. Barking is okay for 15 consecutive minutes before it is considered a nuisance.
Animal Services does in fact alert a police agency. In situations like these, there is a protocol, even for the police. There would be a cruelty investigation opened and penalty as determined by a judge. Under the law, a person's dog is considered their property. The only thing you can do in this instance is report every time. The more paperwork/ incidents/ citations, etc. the more severe the case looks. This would equally be the case if you were to call the police when it comes to a person's pet. Unfortunately, this is the ordinance that we must abide by. Consequences are up to a judge.
That’s the same question I have. I don’t wanted to adopted I just wanted him back.
We open to the public at 2PM. To get the deceased animal please call non emergency police and they will dispatch an animal control officer.
We are sorry that we were unable to take your call. Calls are available during operating hours 9:30-5:30 Tuesday thru Saturday; 2-5 on Sunday. It can be a wait at times because the people that answer the phone are also handling in coming animals and Adoptions. We will work to resolving the issue for the future. Thanks for voicing your concern.
I have a few guinea pigs that I need to surrender they are my girlfriends and she is moving to Florida and her new landlord will not allow her to have pets what do I need to do and when can I get an appointment
no, this is a government agency. not the Humane Society.
Definitely call and ask someone at the shelter.
no. you need a private company for that. some have training and licenses for wild animal removal.
you have to transport yourself during regular hours.
