If the dog belongs to you, yes you can and the dog will be put up for adoption. If the dog is a stray, you can turn it in for them to hold for the owner to pick up. If the owner doesn't pick up they will put up for adoption.
If your the owner you got do a surrender and release. They can give you the paper work then set up a date.
We just found a stray cat and turned it in. If you have a stray, you can call them and they'll have it picked up from you.
