Can they not get a warrant? Surely allowing two dogs to perish in the hot sun when it was clear they were tethered and had no access to food and water is not okay. Thank goodness they did not since all of the neighbors intervened. You would not allow a dog to stay in a hot car. Surely you could get a warrant to enter they property from the police to provide water and shade on a 90 degree day when the dogs had been without water for two days? I feel this situation was handled incorrectly and want to understand why the agency tasked with ensuring the most basic of health and safety conditions for animals would have said that they would leave these dogs for another 24 hour and see what happened. I am disgusted and outraged. I expected better of Cobb County Animal Services. Oh wait, I can see from your answer below that you CAN get a warrant? Why was this not done for dogs clearly in distress in the hot sun, no shelter, no water, two days in?
Animal Services is tasked with the welfare of Animals that do not have homes and/or owners. Unfortunately, we are not entity that can tell you what to do. We can issue citations for violation of ordinance. Seizure of animals takes thorough investigation done by detectives, which is not always an immediate process. There is one officer per precinct in Cobb. Our officers do the best they can with the information given. We do thank you sincerely for your concern and will take it under consideration.
