It was a great experience. I wasn't ready to get sober at the time, but it lead me in the right direction. Much tougher regimen than other places I had been. The brothers are a hard group, but sympathetic. I was desperate, having put myself in detox/treatment 22 times in 26 months. So don't give up. If you want it, it will come. (If you're not prepared to do at least 90 days, this is not a place you'll want to go to, but a place you'll *need* to go to.) I worked in the bookstore. Working made the days pass. The food was excellent. The accomodations were dorm homeless shelter type. (No privacy.)

The mailing address: *first & last name Mr. *_____________ c/o St. Christopher’s Inn 21 Franciscan Way Garrison, NY 10524 Do not send money, candy, toiletries, books, clothes, or any other item, clients are not allowed to receive these.
The only opportunity to ‘visit’ a client is through St. Christopher’s Weekend Family Program which the client must sign up for in advance. It’s a workshop-style, highly structured series of interactions between clients and their families- meaning children, (I’m not sure of minimum age), siblings, cousins, girlfriends, boyfriends, fiancés, etc. The client must invite each ‘family’ member by name so they’re registered in advance. It runs on a Saturday & Sunday, it’s moderated by one of the therapy staff. session size varies from everyone in the room, (aprx. 80), to small groups, or only family + client. program is educational, therapy-based, and confrontive toward the client. I did program- my son was at St.Christophers-good experience to hear similar family stories. program is best for someone attempting recovery 1st or 2nd time, after that it’s a guilt trip because they already feel worthless. We have to love and accept who they are even when they don’t want to get clean. ❤️
No. If you have no coverage, will enroll you in Medicaid/Medicare/whatever vehicle they are using in New York State for homeless to access medical care. Saint Christophers in is technically a homeless shelter; they do except insured clients, but their primary purpose is to service those in need. If you call admissions they will explain all the requirements to you. Good luck
I just called the info dept and they said you cannot mail clothing
Tim is right on the money with his answer but that does not mean your son can't go to another program in the interim. God bless you and your family. This is a terrible disease.
St. Christopher’s will accept payment from any provider, if Fedelis generally covers inpatient substance abuse treatment, they’ll should cover Saint Christophers - it is one of the least expensive, and statistically most successful options in New York State. Saint Christopher’s also has a day treatment program which is covered by absolutely everyone.
Not at this time all men facility.
You need to contact them for the right answer. Let them know what you are looking to do. They will have the best answer.
John coogan just call them and explain that you dont have insurance and they will get you emergency medicaid. THEY DO NOT TURN PEOPLE AWAY. most people dont have insurance when they get up there
No. This is a 12 step program. Everyone is free to find a higher power of their own understanding.
The Medically Supervised Outpatient Withdrawal (MSOW) program, which is licensed by the New York State Office of Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Services, is designed for individuals who may be in need of an uncomplicated detox from alcohol, sedative hypnotics and opiates, before beginning a more intensive and structured treatment program for substance use disorder. Patients who meet criteria for MSOW do not need hospitalization, but can benefit from beginning to treat their addiction, while living in a safe environment that also provides education and support. MSOW Patients meet daily with a substance use disorder counselor, and the medical staff. In addition, patients have access to an array of services and learning opportunities to point them in the right direction for long-term recovery including 12- step meetings, pastoral counseling, informative lectures and individual sessions with counselors.
Smoking is allowed but no rollies. The cigarettes MUST be in a pack

Sadly... When WAS the annual picnic. It WAS on Saturday August 4th 2018. They have the annual picnic and the brick wall memorial happening on the same day. In 2016 and 2017 I was informed in advance of the picnic at Memorial – my son was a client there who died of an overdose three years ago, so his name is part of that wall. However this year for some reason I was not contacted about the August 4 events and miss them. I’m actually pretty upset about it and plan to contact the administration.
Saint Christophers is technically a homeless shelter, although they do except insurance payments from those who have insurance It’s probably the program you heard about. There are a few long term options that go beyond Saint Christophers usual three months maximum stay. It’s my understanding that those programs are only for residents of the five boroughs, though that may have changed and opened up. I believe one of those programs is called Project Renewal, I’ve known some men who have been through it and they say it’s wonderful, and it does last 18 months and even beyond for some.
I am not sure if they still do. However, they did take donations. You will have to contact them.
Can't reach them on their cell and I know he is bipolar from being in a relationship for.4 years. I know he doesn't take meds but should so trying to find out if he is there from him seems impossible.
