Any government such as Australia that declares war on their own people and suppresses their most basic human rights for safety and security is no longer a legitimate government.
If I was once an Australian citizen, what's the process of getting my citizenship back. I lived there in the 70s, but my parents moved here.

You just have to apply for a passport along with your birth certificate. Once you are a Citizen, you will always be a Citizen.

Australian sized Passport photos can be sourced from many places, but there is a list of accredited photographers on the USA.embassy.gov.au website. DOI and Photo Mission come to mind.

You need to explain more about how you renounced your australian citizenship? That will determine wether you travel on a Aus passport or presumably American passport.
