Don't go there in late summer. Everything dried up. And bring cash. Quarters are required for showering. And there is "No coins for Credit card". Luckily we found a small stream, otherwise it would have been almost unbearable at 40 degrees.

The experience: We stayed for 2 nights in the campground area, and utilized the hiking trail up the side of the mountain as well as the small lake at the bottom. Need to know: There is no cell service within ~15-20 mins of the campsite, and no wifi offerings once you are there. Make sure you take care of any urgent business before you spend extended time here. Notable: The showers are coin-operated, and seem to break frequently. I was not able to take a shower in the time I was there because they were either out of service, or there was a long line for the one or two that were still working.

Amazing spot for camping, both the modern and primitive sites! Currently open fires permitted on both, potable water at primitive sites only. The staff is absolutely incredible and come around with firewood and water. No reception within 20 min, McDonald's and Starbucks 30 min. The water is perfect for swimming and lots of space!

Great! Thank you, I wasn’t sure because of the recent fire restrictions
Yes
Yes. There is a wide riverbed, shallow but a little deep in spots or you can hike up to the swimming holes. 3 miles to the first one and every 1.5 miles there are more.
Yes it is

Hello Febe. I work out at Arroyo Seco and I would suggest that you come early and buy a day pass and wait until 1 or 2 pm and check with the kiosk for a 'first come first serve' campsite. That would be your best option in my opinion.
It's open 7 days a week but get there very early. I got there at 1130 and they said they were turning people away since 930.
Don't really know, but I'll take a wild one and tell u that they don't.
Hiking then you will need to swim up river about a hour.
$25 in primitive and $30 in modern
They did the last time I was there
You'll pull up to straight to the entrance and it's 10$ day fee. Take Ice chest with plenty of ice and water. there's a few bbq pits there you can use or you can take your own lil pit. Def take water shoes cause there's a lot of rocks there and the sand gets super hot
Yes. However, they have several portable stations in each loop as well as a hand washing station. The toilets are regularly maintained and VERY clean, honestly cleaner than a lot of brick and mortar campground bathrooms.
The upper lake is darn near dry and the lower lake has been dry for several years now.
If it is open only there is very little water I went last week
Arroyo Seco is closed until further notice. Willow fire
Yes👍🏽
almost always available
Closed until at least 6/27 Due to Willow Fire.
It is $10 a vehicle for the day use parking. A reservation is not required, however, It is an extremely popular place, and they do close off the parking lot pretty early due to fullness (around 11am)! My suggestion is to get there as close to 8 a.m. as possible.
The water is a bit of a hike. With kids you may want to drive 1/4 mile walk...uphill on the way back. Doable but w kids might want to drive
I'm hoping that it'll be open when summer comes around. But here's a website to check whenever you are wanting to know if it's open https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/lpnf/recarea/?recid=10906
The Arroyo Seco campgrounds and Gorge are all closed until further notice due to the Dolan Fire.
If you have to get up early because only a limited number of people let you in
I don't think there are fires on all sides.
No
You can but only for picnics by the creek. If you are planning for a weekend, make sure you arrive by 7. Otherwise, you won't get in
Yes there are first come first serve. A couple of sites only. Mainly the primitive sites.
There is a day use area though like stated above it fills quickly and no it doesn't require a reservation
Siiiiii
Check in is 2:00 the hosts said that you have until 2:00 the next day to use your camp spot or else it will be up for grabs and you waisted your money.
Yes you can go for the day. It's only $10 per car for entrance fee other than that get there early and you might get a good shaded spot!
I would not recommend it at this time of year, the river is low and allot of rocks.
It's for a group of two. If you park on a spot for doubles by yourself you will be charged for the two sites.
Coming from Salinas take the Arroyo Seco Road Exit and take a left at the fork approximately 4 miles past the green bridge.
You can fish from the falls in the gorge upriver thru summer. Winter you can fish the falls downriver. From Gorge Parking to the horse bridge is a 3 mile walk, from the bridge you head upriver a further 2 miles till you hit the falls. Take plenty of water and a dry bag, you will be in the river for the majority of the upstream journey. Fishing downstream is a big fat fine so I would not recommend breaking the rules.
Yes
It depends how many vehicles/people per spot and which spot you prefer. But it's between $20-$45
No there about 10, give or take first come first serve sites
Bring quarters for the showers!
They have RV spaces, wth no hook-ups though.. Bathroom/Showers are on site.
The campground is always open. The day use area is open from 8am-6pm
Get the USFS Senior Pass for half priced camping
