It is $10 a vehicle for the day use parking. A reservation is not required, however, It is an extremely popular place, and they do close off the parking lot pretty early due to fullness (around 11am)! My suggestion is to get there as close to 8 a.m. as possible.
Yes they have a day use area. I think the day fee is $10.00. I don't think they do reservations. We checked the CA campground information page. BTW - Bathrooms were closed. They provided clean, sanitized, well stocked porta potties and pump hand sinks. VERY impressed with the park!
