Being newly retired to NC from Massachusetts I had some questions and went to this Social Security office. After reading some of the reviews I wasn’t sure what to expect and was a little apprehensive. I was a walk-in without an appointment and after signing in I waited for about 1/2 hour before being seen but I expected that. This office is efficient and clean and the staff, from the security guard to the representative I saw, were all very helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. No reason to be apprehensive at all.

Fast and very friendly lady who helped Mr. The wait was not that lo g

Great experience! In and out and the people were so friendly!

They say you need to make an appointment! What a joke, on hold for over 40 minutes trying to get thru to Hickory office. Phone was never answered by a human. That is totally unacceptable for a government office. Makes you doubt that any information they give you will be correct. Lousy business practice when people have to put their trust in them!! June 15th. Took my chances and went to the office without and appointment. Arrived at 9:01 and already several people ahead of me. Only had to wait 15-20 minutes. Security guard was friendly, professional and was very helpful in directing you to correct person. I was lucky and got a young gentleman that was very friendly, very helpful and genuinely interested in helping me! Had a very pleasant experience. My advice is arrive when they open they still require mask and distancing.

If you have not remarried at any point you can begin drawing at age 65.
Dad passed away on October 13 2017 . I will become administration on March 1st 2018 . I'm giving all rights to my sister of the amount of 255. Social security check to her .what all do I need
Go online to social security and set up an account and you will be able to get all your information on there, when then sent it out and also if you need proof of benefits.
Claim a W at the end of the word know.
Usually at 62 you can start drawing but I wld wait until the 65 mark the longer u wait and still wrk the more u will get in benfits u put in for social security but their are exceptions like for example disibility that a whole different thing I don't know what which one your going for retirement or disibility but it wld be best to go on their web sight to read your options bc their is things u need to know to apply for either one or if your not computer person just call them and they can give you the best answer good luck with your surch
You can walk in but it's better to make an appointment if you're applying for disability if it's for your social security card or something you can do it pretty easy by walking in
Call social security services in Hickory. You can get them to send you an application. Just fill it out and mail it back.
The office hasn't been open for a few months. Everything is being done online or by mail
You have to make an appointment
I would call or go back there I'm sure it needs to be spelled correctly
Today at 4 p.m.
It's not closed they just moved to another location. They are now located across from Arbys going towards granite falls.
It's free. Just bring in all of your paperwork, marriage certificate, your ID and they will take care of it quickly.
YES! DO NOT RESPOND AT ALL!! I got the same call. I called the real SSA office and then went to the website. SSA doesn't make this kind of call. Go to the official website. There is an article about what to do.
Just bring your marriage license and your identification to the office and they will help you.
Yes, you would need to talk to them, to set it up like that.
Yes it is
Go online and it will ask you what you want to do. It will prompt you every step of the way to make your appointment for the Hickory office. But your process would be quicker if you call the 800 number for Hickory instead of the National number in D.C. Both numbers are on the internet or you can Google SSA information. Good luck.
That depends if the spouse is living, disabled, or deceased. If your spouse is dead, you will need to bring certain papers with you to the SSA Office. 1) spouse's birth certificate, SS card, death certificate and proof of your marriage (usually a marriage licence) just to name the ones I remember. Also your SS card. 2) If you make an Appointment ahead of time, your wait will be much shorter. BUT BE THERE ON TIME! Or even a little early. All the instructions are online too. Hope this helps.
Yes
You can go down to the SSA office and go in and talk to someone. I went yesterday and my wait was about 30 minutes.
They are mailing the SSI car to me
I'm going to assume they don't have enough staff to balance the in person appointments plus answering the phones.
Through human resource department or the accounting department of your place of work
Im sure you can just call them
That's all you need like the other comments said, just her Birth Certificate and you're ID, that is if it it new and not a Replacement,if it is a Replacement you can order it on line with them, hope this helps you....
Going to the local office tomorrow.
You can do it online www.ssa.gov
Maybe 5-10: business days
If you think it has been stolen, file a police report. You can 1) call SSA by phone (BUT it will be a long wait on the phone), 2) go to the local office and they will help you. I am not sure if you can do it online. But do something quickly. Good luck!
Need reissued medical card
Go into the office and make sure that they have the account numbers correct. They can also tell you exactly when you money will be deposited into the account. I went through the same thing. The numbers weren't correct but they fixed it and the money was deposited quickly afterwards.
No, but you can start the application, and get a list of all the information you need to bring with you.
Go into the office, bring proof of identity, fill out an application for a lost card and they will give you a letter, stating that you filed for a lost card. You will get your card in 7-10 business days. You don't need to make an appointment either.
All you have to do is go into the office and apply for a replacement card. Be sure to bring her birth certificate and your identification. It will arrive in 7-10 business days. It's not a long process but if you don't want to be waiting for a long time, you can call and make an appointment to do it.
Get your new bank account, keep your existing one temporarily , but just until you get your SS checks changed. Tell your new bank that you want your SS checks changed to be deposited into your new account with them. Then as soon as you get everything switched and going to the right account close your old account at that time. You do not have to go to the SS office. I hope this helps you.
It really depends on the type of benifits that you are receiving. If you receive regular SSI I am pretty sure they have to count your husbands income. But if you receive full SSDA then they will not.
He needs to go to the office and take his driver's license or state ID.
There is no charge to get a duplicate Social Security card. Just bring in proper identification and fill out the application. You should receive it in 7-10 business days.
You can go to your local Social Security office and they can explain to you what your benefits will be if you decided to retire soon. You can also go online to SocialSecurity. gov and find out there.
No, you don't need an appointment but if you make an appointment, your wait time isn't as long as those without appointments.
She will have to go to the office and fill out paperwork. She will need ID's, marriage certificate and death certificate too.
If I remember correctly i believe you can work up to 20 hrs a week and make under $2000 a month. But you should double check. It probably depends on whether someone is getting SSI vs Social Security.
Yes you can. Just bring in proper identification and you can apply to get a new one.
No, it does not cost a thing. Just bring in proper proof of name change.
When I did the same thing years ago I had to take: 1) my birth certificate - certified copy. 2) marriage license also certified. 3) divorce decree or separation papers You can make an appointment ahead of time so you spent a long time waiting.
You would have to ask someone who works there. If he didn't work, I doubt it but don't quote me on that. She may qualify to get something if she's a minor.
Go to local SS office and ask them to issue you another one
You just need to go in and fill out an application for the lost card, be sure to bring proper identification. It will arrive in 7 to 10 business days. They can give you a letter if you need one, as proof of your application.
My recommendation is that you get a disability lawyer to help you with the process. I was denied disability twice before I hired a lawyer. The lawyers are very knowledgeable about the process and will present your case before the disability judge. It helps to have everything well documented and if you can get letters of disability from your Doctors.
No. You don't need an appointment, you can walk in and take a number. You m ay have a bit of a wait though.
You just need to take your ID and go fill out an application for a lost card. They can give you a letter as proof of your number to use until your card comes in, which takes 7-10 days.
