STOP! I know what you’re thinking. A bunch of one star reviews from salty people. That’s what I thought but have since realized that I should have listened. Payless made me put down a 250$ deposit on the vehicle when I picked it up and told me that I would be reimbursed when I returned it. Not only was it more than 250$+ they also never refunded me and after talking with their customer service they changed the receipt to reflect that I wouldn’t be getting a refund. The ONLY WAY THIS PLACE IS STILL IN BUSINESS IS BECAUSE THEY SCAM THEIR CUSTOMERS. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM OR SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES. I encourage everyone to contact the better business bureau. *edit* After 2 hours of talk time and emails. They have refunded me for the deposit. Ive adjusted their rating accordingly until I receive my refund.

The car was honestly Stained in seats and dirty inside. Body damage. Also was not worth the price . I would definitely not recommend this rental spot. What I could not believe is that this car was at the airport for rental. I don’t know maybe it was just the car they gave me. Also I left my shavers in the trunk and every time I tried to call the local number it seem to send me somewhere on the west coast. So I’m out of 250 .

Hidden in the fine print they don't allow you to get a refund if you return cars early.... I rented a car for 5 days because mine was in the shop. Originally the mechanic thought it would take 5 days but it turned out to be a minor issue and the car was fixed in one day. I explained the issue to the service rep and they said since I PREPAID I wont be getting any sort of refund. Also the car was filthy and the service center was highly dysfunctional.

DO NOT RENT FROM PAYLESS! Like everyone else, I searched online for the best rates for a week's rental. Payless quoted a rate lower than other companies so I booked a reservation. Upon arriving at the rental office in Puerto Rico, the agent had me sign a contract and mentioned insurance. I asked if it was required to add their insurance to my rental. The agent's response "Everyone HAS to have the insurance." Little did I know that this was false, because as long as my personal insurance provided coverage in PR, I had no need to purchase additional coverages. I was not asked for proof of my personal auto insurance, nor provided information regarding the guidelines for insurance. When I received my statement for my credit card, the amount originally quoted was nearly double due to adding a SLEW of fees. I called and spoke with a representative at Payless who told me that the PR location wasn't under their corporate umbrella (???) so they had limited access to records and the ability to resolve this. This experience has been awful. Certainly, this company is a buyer beware experience, and I caution that their slightly lower "QUOTE" could easily leave you with far more to pay in the end.

They are really cheap. You can go online try priceline for the best rates. I would not suggest using payless. It usually takes 1-2 hours to rent once you arrive and if you do not look at the receipt it will cost a lot more than expected.
