For $200/night, one should have some reasonable expectations: the shower head to be actually attached to the wall & the bath towels to be larger than a napkin. Had the look of being recently partially renovated. However, since its proximity to UAB Medical Center (Kirklin) meant we only had to walk a few feet outside during my wife's open heart surgery, it was still worth it.

My wife and I had a room reserved because of several outpatient appointments at UAB. On about the 3rd day of our stay we received a call to our room from the front desk and we were accused of smoking in our room by Courtyard staff. I politely told the employee on the other end of the phone that neither my wife nor myself smoke. Imediatly we were then threatened to have the authorities called on us because they received an anonymous tip from another guest that there was a strong order of marijuana coming from our room. Again I tried to explain that we don't smoke but the only reply I received was another threat of an extra $250 fee if we didn't comply with their request to not smoke in our room. Once I explained for the 3rd time that neither myself or my wife smoke I hung up the phone and politely walked to the front desk and found the nearest manager and informed her that because of the unprofessional manner in which we were falsely accused and threatened by Courtyard staff that we would be checking out early and that we would not be returning to this establishment ever again...

Located downtown Birmingham AL, next to UAB hospital for convenience. Great clean, well-maintained hotel. Staff is friendly and very attentive. My definite go-to location while receiving treatment at UAB!

Bathroom had visible mold and peeling wallpaper. Also smelled of mold in the bathroom. Wasn't the cleanest room but I've been in worse. Maid cleaned midstay which I did not like. I thought they weren't doing that any more due to covid. All of my personal belongings including toothbrush had been moved when I came back to the room. The biggest positive is the location. Being able to walk to the hospital where my father was staying for a few days was wonderful. Lobby was nice and front desk staff was nice.

If you're there for an extended time, purchase a weekly parking pass for $30.
I would definitely call and find out.
As of September 2018, if you call the hotel directly, you can get the UAB Hospital Rate, but it is still expensive. It was worth the coat to me when my husband had surgery to be right there at the hospital.
As you are. Standing in front of the hotel there us a parking deck on the left
