For the price, I think I could have gotten a better room: the bed was comfy and clean and the room itself was clean. The sink was clogged, the shower head was leaking all over the place, the elevators were the sketchiest thing I’ve ever been in. Valet didn’t know how to park a manual. The staff was super friendly. Just mediocre, especially for the price.

The hotel was nice and the staff were awesome. Only reason for the bad review, if you're going to serve breakfast, don't be out of everything. Also, who has a fully stocked bar with a bartender that can't make anything but what the manager allows them to? Awesome showers though.

I should have known I was in for a less than pleasant experience when I realized that the waffle house in 5 points (across from the hotel) was closed down. Overall....the room was not worth the 200.00 a night charge (on a Tuesday night). The curtains in the room were barely hanging on, there was tape stuck on the walls from God knows what, scratches on the closet door, a dirty shower and more. Not to mention the over abundance of homeless people sleeping near the entrance. The staff was friendly and helpful enough, and it seemed like they were just trying to make the best out of the situation they had there....but I can safely say I'll never be back to this hotel. My room was on the 5th floor, the elevator seemed like it was well overdue for an inspection (come to think of it I did not see an inspection certification in the elevator car) and some repairs. All night long I could hear cars running up and down the street, as well as the familiar sound of police sirens and ambulances. I've stayed in plenty of hotels in downtown areas of much larger cities than Birmingham, and this is the only one where I've had this poor of an experience.

The room was great, clean and roomy. The bed was very comfortable. The waste bins in the room, especially the sitting area could be a little bigger. I had a carry out box that I couldn’t discard because the trash cans were very tiny. Also, the view from the rooms is not as advertised. All we had were rooftops. But, it was clear that the staff are not trained in the Hospitality industry. The check in clerk the night we arrived was really sweet but she had a very difficult accent to understand. When explaining something she just kept repeating the same thing. It was quite frustrating. But she was very friendly and tried really hard to please so I commend her for that. The hotel was out of creamer and milk so if you wanted coffee, black was the only option. I wanted breakfast one morning and knew my time was going to be tight. The evening before I went downstairs to ask for a breakfast menu (I was told that a menu would be in the room; it was not). There was no breakfast menu available but I was handed a dinner menu. So the next morning I decided to go downstairs and take my chances. The toast was rock hard and the eggs had zero seasoning. The second evening when I got back to the hotel the elevator was not working. Thank goodness it had not been the case the first day as my husband had come to Birmingham for hip surgery and he would not have been able to manage the stairs. We were told that valet service would help us with our bags in the morning but no one answered the phone so myself and another guest had to manage three flights of stairs with our luggage. Despite the comfort of the room I would not choose to stay at this hotel again. It is not worth the extra cost.
