The expert report does not always agree with the actual events, especially in online auctions. This happened in an online auction where a gilded powder compact from Ghiso was declared 14 ct gold tested (allegedly with the usual agents and acids). The Swiss precious metal control then clearly and unequivocally determined in an expert report that this was not the case and that it is only a 14ct GOLD PLATING. As a courtesy, they agreed to take over the case at their own expense and with a refund of the purchase price including my shipping costs. The selling price, however, was not transferred to my bank account, but is now a credit to my account at the auction house. So I am forced to go shopping there again, which I actually don't want, as my trust is more than scratched!

We specialize in fair market value appraisals, which are the values that are established at auction. These values can be used for estate planning and distribution. You need to call Doyle. They can provide you with a free estimate - appraisal if you email email them photos. The estimates are very rough until a curator examines the items. The email address is on the website.
