Looks like the animals were well taken care of And the place didn't stink
Highlandprincess 'Each-Usige
I felt very comfortable and not like " a number" at the Franklin County Animal Shelter this morning. From my initial emails with Ivy to Luke(?) and Persephone's Foster Mom filling me in about Zeus Fots health and backgrounds. And let us not forget about the desk help, she was very patient with me getting my credit card and ID out of my wallet. LOL What an awesome way to begin a Saturday morning!!
David Jacobs
Staff is very nice and professional. Everything was done in a timely manner and I didn't even have to get out of my car.
Kalonnha Grant
Very friendly staff and simple drop-off process. I found a dog and brought it here after the day after. I posted a "found dog report" and the owner ended up reuniting with their pit (:
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
You must visit the site.
Of course!
Are all dogs spayed or neutered and do you currently have any declawed indoor cats
Mines had emergency surgery there and they are very nice.
Call them and ask like normal people
This is a dog shelter. You'd have to go to cat welfare or somewhere.
Yea I was able to pick a dog but it was rough cause when you tell them you have animals you pick get limited which is understandable but they don't show you which one you can have until you already made 3 choices and none of them were cat friendly.
Yes, I would suggest going at least an hour before close so you can spend time with the animal (required) before adoption.
Photos on the website but it is nothing compared with visiting and seeing their various personalities! Some will make you smile, laugh, and just as curious about you as you are about them. ☺💚
U would need to go in quickly cause usually when they feature a dog it goes within hours
They have volunteer opportunities. They always have openings. Their dogs are not aggressive. They don't always get to be exercised as often as they need due to not enough volunteers causing them to be over excited for human contact.
I'm not sure if it's a non kill shelter..you could try gigis or chs...what type of dog is it
Right now some dogs can be adopted for as an low as $18 and up above $100. A lot of beautiful pups needing forever homes. Go and find your new best friend.☺️
All dogs/puppies are neutered and microchipped.
They have containers for donations outside the Lost + Return side as well as the main adoption lobby, go through the community room entrance.
Yes. They have a sign up link https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/20f054aa9ad2aa7fc1-shelter1
If you want to adopt a dog, you need to make an appointment. If you are looking for a lost dog, please go to the shelter to look yourself.
That location does adoptions. Check there website. The service I had was for my friends dog, they were very nice there. Good luck.
Not all dogs get posted, mine wasn't and she was a puppy. You really have to go there.
What kind of dog? I was informed they only keep them 3 days. Im not sure that's correct.
The Humane Society. You have to call them directly to report it.
I have kittens someone dropped off in my back yard. Ur welcome. I am ashamed to say. But I'm afraid of cats. You need to come get them.
Take 2 Franklin county animal shelter and inform them of the abuse and maybe they can get home for them
Do you still bave this dog?
$10 to surrender and you need to make an appointment.
Dont wanna scare u but they just put mine down in straight up lied to me. Wen i guess they just had killd most of the dogs. Its all over google. I am sueing theme. Thats for shure. In geting tonthe bottem of this my dog was never a threat. I wish u good luck geting your dog back. Hioe no one has to go threw what i just went threw
Clean, professional and caring staff. Dogs seem happy enough. Worth considering. Pleadr dont buy or adopt pets if you atr going to discard them.
What kind are they
I BE live the answer is yes but when I was there dealing with the vet there was a woman there with the same problem and they waved the fee call them talk to them be honest
Check out their website or go to the shelter
They have all types of dogs u can go on their website and look
I suggest you reach out to a local rescue like Cause for Canines. A zimple google search of dog rescues near me will get you options. This is a kill shelter and they are typically overextended.
No, but they do have a small pet store on site to purchase essentials.
Yes file a report with the shelter
You should call and ask them because they do have a nice sized meeting room. Frankly it could be a clever means to raise funds by holding kids parties there.
This is a community information sharing forum and is not a direct contact point for any business or service. Call them.
If he doesn't have a dog license and is caught, you will be fined. Also, if he causes an accident, you can be found at fault.
This is a community information sharing forum and is not a direct contact point for any business. You'll have to contact them.
This is a community information sharing forum and is not a direct contact point for any business. Why would you expect boxes from a dog shelter anyway? Just go to kroger.
Yes...some are not but no adoption final until animal neutered by their staff
Try animal control?
I would first post on social media (like your own page) lots of parents like to get their kids animals like that.
They have a lost dog turn in at the shelter. They can check the dog for a microchip. If no one claims the dog within a certain time frame then they are listed for adoption to find a great home.
Go onto web site
There is a chance however people will go for the younger dogs first. Why after 11 years would you take your dog to the pound? I would try finding a rescue for older dogs.
No just bring proof of rabies vaccination
They have a Facebook page
I can't answer that. I've never visited.
Franklincountydogs.com
Yes the food pantry for Franklin County residents was empty as of yesterday I believe. They posted it on their fb page.
Call them and tell them you are looking to rehome a dog they will connect you with someone who can help with that
The shelter is only for dogs unfortunately. There are local rescues for cats such as Columbus Humane who can take in strays. Due to the pandemic, you have to make an appointment to take in a cat. Hopefully they can get you help faster since the cat is ill. Hope this helps.
We have been adopted four dogs from Franklin County shelter and you get to take them home the same day
There is a volunteer program and you have to be 18 in order to join the program. I've been volunteering for almost 2 years now and I love it. If you go to the website for the dog shelter, the volunteer information is found under the side menu. It has FAQs, information on what we can do as volunteers, and most importantly how to become a volunteer.
https://dogs.franklincountyohio.gov/Contact There are a few options linked above. It all depends on what you're emailing about. I'm not sure if the shelter has a generic email address.
Marcia is correct. Uncheck any specific filter. They current have 87 wonderful dogs available.
Yes no appointment necessary. You can also renew online.
Idk what you mean with this question
Idk I don't work at the place just go to get food from them for my dogs and cats, sorry
The adoption fee for puppies and dogs under 5 years old is $123 (includes dog license, shots, spay or neuter, and microchip). Some dogs may be discounted to $73 including all dogs 5 years or older, and our Shelter Favorites who have been here longer than most are waived adoption fees. These dogs may be adopted for just the price of the dog license, $18.
I took my puppies to the shelter for the snyp-it program... Yes they got spayed and got shots for free, but since then I've been paying vet bills due to them coming home with kennel cough... Up to you if it's worth it.. so far I have paid over $75 to get 2 of my OTHER dogs that never left home taken care of, as the puppies seen to have gotten over the kennel cough.. up to you..but the vet I'm taking them to only charges minimal fee for spay and shots.. maybe check into getting an appointment with "pet solutions" on hudson, and save yourself extra money and time...
This facility is dogs only
Go in person every day
Don't know you have to ask them.
Yes. They do. There are signs you can follow when you get there to find the drop off
Little dogs are usually the 1st to be adopted. Getting the 1st appointment of the day is your best chance to meet one.
Each dog is priced differently
We paid $123. The dog was neutered, had shots and was microchipped.
No
I'm a volunteer and not aware of a puppy wing. There is no specific area where the puppies are housed, but the adoption website is the best place to check. They are currently doing adoptions by appointment only.
We made an appointment and got to look at dogs. We looked at all and kept coming back to Buddy. The folks out there will let you know if there are any problems that they know on the dog. They told us good and bad habits that they knew about him
You can check their website, they update it daily.
They have a food pantry where you can get food. Ask them about their snyp-it program so you can get your dog spayed.
They do spray and neuter. They may only for up to 3 years of age though.
Their website has information about volunteer opportunities. You need to apply & complete an online course, sign up for one of the monthly orientations, and then schedule one-on-one training. https://dogs.franklincountyohio.gov/Volunteer/Volunteer-Opportunities
I'd say yes, as long as it is clean and in good shape.
You would have to call the facility and see if they need volunteers.
If you call them they will come and get the dog,
I think I would try calling each location to find your dog Tripp. Actually try visiting either location....there are so many other dogs looking for a perfect home. ❤💙🐈🐕
They dont hold animals as far as I know so you just have to show up and hope. They will only hold an animal for 24 hours after you pay the adoption fee so you can arrange to pick up am animal.
There are 2 good looking shepards there one medium sized the other is a big shepard was just there today
Their website says there is a $10 fee to surrender your pet, but they may waive it if you tell them it's a stray puppy you took in. What an awful person to do that, and how kind you were to take it in.
I'm not sure. You can give them a call and see.
You'll have to call them to find out. They wont respond here.
I would call and make an appointment. They are very busy and you would be waiting awhile with out an appointment
They are all spayed or neutered before they leave the shelter
You need to call the shelter. This is a customer review site.
Go into the shelter. They will help you find the right dog for you. Check out some of their dogs on their web page and petfinder.com. make a list of which one you are interested in
Volunteers mainly walk the dogs. You can defenitely volunteer. You can also go down and sign in to look at dogs and pick one you might want to walk.
Customer review site, not the shelter.
You have to go and look yourself.
Last time i went i didnt see any but they might have one because they get new dogs almost everyweek
They get new dogs on Wednesday and Saturday but you have to be the first one there their open at 9 on Saturday
I would recommend calling them ahead of time.
When you adopt from the Franklin County dog shelter it is $123 which includes all up to date vaccinations, microchip and spayed or neutered, and license
Talk to them first , then if they aren't favorable to doing things correctly give them the options you have
Best learn to call them direct instead of asking random people who don't work
Best to call and ask them
There's a lot of different dogs there. You would have to either call them and ask them or go look at the large section they have.
Call them and ask.
The fees that you pay are when or if you adopt an animal they are usually the license fees for the tags
Yea . I adopted a puppy last week
You need to contact them directly. This is a customer review site.
Don't tell me what to do
Saw price board couple of weeks back. I suggest to pay a visit and look around
The dog shelter has reasonable shots
If you prove he/she is yours and bring the shot record for proof of rabies vaccination
Go down fast and walk through and find her
It was hard for me to find the site
No they do not. I went in and asked a couple of weeks ago.
She was on channel 6 Saturday morning to be adopted. But I guess the puppy was claimed by it's owner who saw the puppy on the channel 6 segment. It had been stolen. Thanks for answering me.
We take in unwanted/stray dogs and adopt them out to new homes! Tomorrow we have an $18 special (happens frequently)!
I was there recently. Pits and pit mixes, not much else
No. Try your local grocery store or pet store. Most places have them!
Haven't heard, you can always Google them and give them a call
Call them directly to set up a time to see your dog. Bring a picture with you.
We do not have cats anymore. Any cats that come in are transferred to Columbus Humane or humanely euthanized if injured or sick.
Google Franklin county free pit fix. Just because there's pitbull in the name of the program it doesn't mean it's only for that type of breed. Also, look for the rascal unit, they do income based fixings.
Prices aren't based on dog size. They are based on age and amount of time at the shelter as well as if anyone has donated to part of their adoption fee.
Stop feeding them and they will leave
Ive seen alot of little dogs at the shelter, what did frisky look like?
By industry standards, any shelter that euthanizes less than 11% qualifies as no kill. FCDS does qualify as "no kill". Another commenter is incorrect, FCDS does not send dogs elsewhere to be put down.
You really have to be in and look frequently for yourself. Little dogs tend to get adopted before they are even put on the website.
Not sure sometimes 30 to 60 days
You have to get there early when they get the smaller dogs because people love them a lot and some are but its kinda hard to tell until they have a home and if not they can learn with patience and love!
You can take it to the dog shelter.. depending on where you live.
What's wrong with Dale ...what kinda dog is he? Can I sale you Deana Buell 😂
Call City Kitty, or reach out to Pet Promise... they rescue kitties. Google cat rescues in Franklin County.
Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. We had nothing but good! My daughter adopted her baby back in June. She's wonderful!💕
Maybe few
I went there to adopt a couple months ago and there were ZERO puppies. I had to settle for an older dog, but they may have a few now if any. I doubt that there will be a large selection to choose from.
Then get a pet sitter like the rest of us..What is the matter with you? You DO NOT just surrender your pet because you go on vacation my lord what would you do to a child, Animals have feelings and get attached..wwll maybe not to you..since your furry kids are disposable..you should NEVER be allowed to EVER have another pet nor anything that has a heartbeat in your control or possession..this is despicable and I am disgusted
I don't believe so, but there is a surrender fee. Unless the dog is a stray.
Yes! I believe so. U can also donate ur time. And any unused Household items such As blanketsTo help
https://dogadoptions.franklincountyohio.gov/?name=&age=&size=&category=&Breed=Chihuahua&sex=&submit=Search
I don't know if they're in every state but right here in Columbus Ohio there's a place called S.O.S. and I think they only charge 10 bucks if anything. They go by your income. So regardless you're going to get a great deal and they've always done my animals really well. They have one over here off of West Broad Street right across the street from Chase Bank. If your on welfare or social security or something like that you get it done for free
They can always use volunteers, but there is some training required so i would definitely give them a call or check the website.
Will take new toys and treats, food ect..only if new in pkg..
They're at Columbus humane shelter in Hilliard, not the franklin county dog shelter.
I'm assuming you'll need the money for the cat and a way to prove to them that you'll be providing the cat with a good home. I adopted my dog during an "empty the cages" event so I only had to pay like $12 for the tag and everything else was free. I'm not exactly sure how the buying process works for their day-to-day sales because I got my dog during a type of promotional event. I'm sure you won't need much in order to get a cat. Just bring enough money for the animal itself and a way to prove you will give the animal a good home.
I think i saw a couple last month ...that's the last time i was up there
The shelter dosent have time separate like that the dogs move in and out to fast.
There is s separate small dog room, you have to ask. You should also ask if they have any smalls not on floor, sometimes they are in medical evaluations and haven't put them on floor yet. Also, if you cant find your next best friend there go to petfinder but please only ADOPT from rescues. I volunteer at several rescue events. I can recommend the Dublin Pet Fair in 7 weeks (Sep 30 12-5) will have 30 to 40 rescues in attendance. If you Facebook, search dog rescue events, this the time of year for slot of them. There are also purebred rescues, silly rescues etc. Thank you for wanting to ADOPT and not shop. I foster to adopt to ensure all my rescues are a good fit with existing dynamics. Best wishes.
It is hard to tell in a shelter environment. We don't have enough staff or time to take every dog out, sadly.
During normal hours. They also have an after hours drop off. You van stop by to check the exact hours.
Franklin county will reissue lost tags for a small fee
They kill from what i understand. The manager of the facility Don Wintsel? Has put down good dogs. I get it on my facebook page. Please look for a good place. Right now though not taking any filled to capacity. But they have great dogs there. Too bad we couldnt of had a pit bull they get such a bad rap. Really great sweet friendly ones there.
No they do not. They are having a clinic tomorrow from 1130-330p offering vaccines and 150 free microchips!
Check on Tuesday and Wednesday MORNINGS.... That's when they have most smaller dogs
I went today and they had two chihuahuas but not tea cup
They usually r 100 some unless they have a special u will have to call and ask to be sure
Yes they will let you see all dogs
How about you call them?
Wouldnt be able to tell you if there is a certain breed there but the price for any animal is about 150 or less and the reason for that being is vet cost and spay and neuter for each animal if you have a facebook acount you can like there page at Franklin county dog shelter
Not any too young but there are a ton of pit n pit mixes needing good homes.
Don't know trying to find one myself
Yes
It's like thrift store shopping for a certain item. They will mostly have dogs you are not looking for, but if you check back often, you have better chances.
Yes but be sure to be honest about all your dogs behavior so they can make good decision about re homing it. That ensures less stress for the dog, sorry ur in that situation!!
18 older
They have grown dogs and puppies u will need to go down and walk through to let ur little boy pick one out they open at 11
Just call they can use volunteers
I don't think they do cats
They feed them Eukanuba. I had the same issue and my dog ended up liking 2 kinds I found. One is Mossy Oak and you can get that at Dollar General and he liked Beneful Incredibites. Check on store policies because there is usually a way to return the food and either get your money back or get store credit. Look on back of packages from places like Family Dollar and Dollar General. Im not 100% sure about big box stores such as Walmart, Kroger, Giant Eagle, etc. And I do know at Petsmart, again not sure about other pet stores, but petsmart will take the bag of food and give you your money back. Good luck and Thanks for adopting!! 💖
I agree. I was in the building last week but you can also check for foster dogs on their website. Each dogs adoption fee is different also but the highest Ive seen was $123 and the lowest was free last weekend. Hope that helps!
You don't have to make appointment but it's best to try to find the poor baby a great family instead of returning it back to jail
I'm not sure about that, either. I would definitely call and ask. Good luck with your Furbaby.
Look at there website
I'm not sure, I would call and check.
I'm not sure. You could call and ask them
They are the Franklin county DOG shelter so no they probably do not spay cats. Look at SOS Ohio, Rascal Unit and maybe even the Franklin county humane society
614. 525. 3400 that's the dog warden number try that.
They categorize their dogs in 3 size categories. Small, Medium & Large breed. The small ones are breeds that will stay small. Check out their website for a listing of dogs they currently have.
Lots of them
Hey you can look up see what I'll dogs they on their website
Unless you want pit mixes, don't count on the shelter for any specific breed. Also, this is a community information sharing forum and is not a direct contact point for any business. You won't receive a reply from them.
The cost of a small small Bull Dog- Lab mix puppy was a little over $100 about 6 weeks ago.. The cost included the puppy, her neutering fee and the dog license.
Mutt Mingle (and yes, that's what it's called) is the first and third Sunday of every month 12-2. Go early, because rescue organizations often leave before the time is up.
I think they require you to bring anyone, including other dogs to make sure everyone gets along. I would wait til you pick out your dog first, have them hold the dog until you return with yours.
They have a variety of amazing animals that need adopted. Hard to go in without having a new best friend when you leave. You could always do voluntary help until you find the pet that connects with your heart. I love them all, God gave us these amazing pets that provide us with total unconditional love!
You have until Wednesday, and you'd better spay/neuter your pet! BTW, you can buy a 3 year license for about $54 and a lifetime license for $180 maybe? All this can be found on the web.
Craigslist or Nextdoor
This is a community information sharing forum and is not a direct contact point for any business. You need to visit the shelter. Small dogs are gone before they make it to the website.
You can always check there website and facebook page
There is a free spay/neuter program for low income owners. It is currently booked solid. You can call the shelter to be put on the list. You can also contact SOS for low cost care.
Not sure sorry but I did hear dog tags went up and when your late getting them you do have to pay a penalty
Should be but double check there website and facebook page
Sorry, stupid phone,u have 5 year old boxer pit mix i rescued, we tried to train her, very loyal, loving xx but very protective, needs room to run and be only pet
I've never seen one, and I've been checking the site for a few months. But I know by checking their Facebook page of adopted dogs, there are always dogs there who go so quickly they never last long enough to get onto the website. Those are always the smaller dogs and more popular dogs. You need to go there and check often, as many mornings as you can, to see if they get one in.
This is a community information sharing forum and is not a direct contact point for any business. Call them.
Hi Denise! This shelter does not sell calendars. However, PetValu is selling calendars that benefit the non profit COPS Central Ohio Pit Savers that helps keep dogs in their homes.
Dog
What do you mean "taking dogs"? If you mean owner surrender, please consider contacting a rescue group instead. Depending on why you are surrendering, if you are, the shelter is not likely the best option for your dog.
I having found a puppy yet
LOOK UP A PLACE CALLED CENTRAL OHIO PIT SAVERS, it's a Columbus area ALL DOG BREED nonprofit rescue group that just helped me by covering HALF of my shelter and neuter fees so I could get my dog out after he got loose. They didn't know us at all, I was told to try them by some random person on a facebook group and sure enough they were super helpful and eager to do it. Good luck!!
Would you like to adopt a pit bull?
Take to vet get x-rays then you would have your proof then hire your attorney
Check with Ohio Wildlife
They do, I just got my guy neutered in exchange for them drastically reducing the fees they charged me to get him out of lock UP after he got loose. Total for the impound, rabies booster, parvo/ distemper booster, neuter and new license it came to 80 bucks, that's them having him for two nights and a full 3 days tho. I think neuter are like 30, depends on size of dog too, you can call them or check on the website tho, they're very helpful people!
I believe they put them down only after haveing them so long, or proven aggressive, you should be able to call and ask their clinic though.
Do you have any jack Russell's for adoption
