This area is so beautiful with the summer marsh flowers and sunsets. Crabbing, Hunting, Fishing and now camping at GlocknersHomePort.com. The wild life is in abundance for watching and enjoying.

They probably got stranded there because of the crazy cold weather we have been having....
Yes,there is.
Yes there is hunting in Big Branch duck hunting squirrel and rabbit and deer and Hogs only with bow and arrow.
You can kayak down cane bayou. The park I believe is open but I'm not 100% because people camp there and I doubt they're going to ask them to leave. It may be closed to incoming people. When I camped there last they lock the gate at night when the park police leave, but they do it in a way that guests can get out. So I would imagine it would be something like that. All boats can use the launch. No surface drives or mud motors allowed in the reserve or refuge. So they just can't go off of cane bayou into any channels. Launch to lake and back only.
Consider using Alltrails for hiking but the only official trail is Boy Scout Rd. Not sure about closed gate unless you mean the HQ.
There are several areas of the refuge. The headquarters has several historic buildings and a visitor center open Thursday thru Saturday. The other areas are between residential areas and the lake.
Yes you can fish in and all around the Big Branch Wildlife Refuge/Management Area. Yes, 16 - 60 years of age must purchase a license. 60 and oldermust get a license, but I believe its free. At the end of Lake Rd. in Lacombe the road extends out to Lake Pontchatrain and you can fish, crab, ski, bird watch, and just before turning onto Lake Rd. at U.S. 190 there is a bait shop, Bayou Adventures, that also rents canoes and kayaks, and there is a deacent deli. I hope you enjoy your day out there.
There are various places to rent canoes further up in Mandeville and Madisonville I would just Google it
It's open day and night. There are no lights at night. Please do not go alone it's away from public
Doesn't cost a penny!
Walk along the boardwalk and look into the lagoons. During the day they will be floating in the water or sunning themselves along the banks. Please don't approach too close or feed them anything...
I'm sure opposums are welcome here in the Louisiana marsh.
Leashed and don't let him wander near waterways. Alligators love to eat dogs!
