What a wondrous country we live in to be able to visit gorgeous places like this. Well worth the drive, which in itself was beautiful. Weather was fantastic, for me anyway, thunderstorms and lightning. A great day. A beautiful monument.

It's a huge canyon and we only get to see a small portion but the views are absolutely spectacular and I would reccomend this over Monument Valley. The tours here are better and you won't find yourself bouncing along in the back of a dusty hot pickup truck with seats like Monument Valley. The valley floor is protected from the wind and is serene and smooth. Beautiful views from the top. Good hiking along the top also just uneven but fairly smooth rocks. Some interesting geology observing how th small rocks on the top s÷m to be eroding out of one layer in the sandstone, perhaps a beach? 300 million years ago? Cool stuff. An easy drive but allow a full day for this.

Beautiful scenery! The White House pull off and trail were closed due to snow I guess. There was a nice cover of fresh snow on the ground making the canyon a winter wonderland!

This is a beautiful place to visit. The colors and the scenery is a jaw dropping. The drive to the place is a scenery in itself. This is a place where you stop and pull over because you can't escape the beautiful clear sky and combine with the landscaping.

Good afternoon folks. The entire loop is accessible by car which was breathtaking. Do plan to go on a non-windy day (check on wind forecast) cause them wind can make your visit less than enjoyable. Oh yes, the bottom of the canyon is only accessible via a tour guide or walking down. We walked down to the canyon floor which was easy. Going up was a bit tough but was worth every minute. Have fun y'all
National Park site rules allow dogs on leashes no longer than 6 feet in parking lots, vista points, picnic areas, camping grounds and alongside roads--- pretty much anywhere a car can go. Dogs are not allowed in visitor centers or on trails, unless they are service animals.
Camp sites are first come, first served. Get there early.
Probably better than the summer months. Cooler and better because it will be less crowded.
43 to 21 i would check national weather service
Canyon de chelly is ancient, the park from 1931.
Navajo Nation Recreation Dept manages the campground. Not as crowded as it used to be when it Was free camping. Navajo National Monument has free camping. It is about 1 1/2 hours away to the North.
The name Chelly is a Spanish borrowing of the Navajo word Tséyiʼ, which means "canyon" (literally "inside the rock"). (From Wikipedia)
Yes it's correct
There is a regular campground, but I don't know what size RV's it can accommodate.
Yes, 30's at night; 60's daytime.
Main office and store are closed, but you can hire someone local to visit the monument. You can also access the white House trail without a guide.
Better to go from the south or north? Worth the trip just to drive through?
