Very nice museum

The museum was amazing. Very well put together. I was both an honor and a privilege to be there. The customer service, however, left plenty to be wanted. The staff could be reminded that the guests of the museum are just that. Hospitality was not their expertise. Some of us come in memorial, others to celebrate, and still others to educate. If my next visit is met with berrer customer service I will change my rating. But, regardless of the content of the museum customer service sets the tone.

My son always likes stopping here and exploring the museum!

No words can ever convey my appreciation for all Marines.

You'll have to contact the museum directly by telephone for that one. Thank you for his service. I have a daughter in the marines. Semper fi
Yes , it is open to the general public and admission is free. There is a small walk in order to get to the front door if someone is disabled. There are a couple restaurants inside.
Unsure at this time of the year there were several around the Winchester front Royal area but it is an hour away
In the back of the gift shop is touchscreen that you can search by name or by donor... It will give you a map and area to search... Took me about 20 minutes to find my brick, knowing the area to look... good luck!
There are 2 that I saw, but they are about the size of a coffee table.
I believe the Marine Corps provides security, there were three Marines at the front doors. Joe Sunshine, the Marines I saw at the front door of the Museum were in Camouflage Utilities with side arms.
Free Parking, Free Admission, if you want to make a donation you can.
Yes, Mary Whyte’s We The People is on display in the Museum’s Combat Art Gallery.
Another option: The largest VFW Post in the world is in Woodbridge close by. In all seriousness, contact that post.
No Vietnam radio statues in the museum
Thanks for the question Frank, on the museums web site there is a section set up just for this situation. Please give that number a call and they will be able to direct you in the collection process. Click the collection link on the site menu and twords the bottom there is a " click here " link that will take you to the info page. There is a form you must fill out and submit to the email provided.
No such thing as former Marine.
What area do you live in?
There were 149 Marines who gave there lives. MAY IT NEVER BE FORGOTTEN THAT ALL GAVE SOME, AND THESE 149 MARINES GAVE ALL.
I believe they close the gates to the road going in and out of the parking lot. I guess you'd have to park on the shoulder and walk in if that's allowed I am not sure of the signage.
Contact the archivist. They may be of some help to you
I'm not sure if you intended to ask me directly but I do not know. May I suggest calling the museum and asking the staff? They would probably appreciate a donation of that historical significance.
There's no real way to answer that. If you're translating it from another language, try rewording it. We want to help.
Sorry. When we went it was just for the day. Didn't stay anywhere overnight.
The National Museum of the Marine Corps encourages you to take photographs and video during your visit. Flash photography is NOT allowed in the vicinity of the Iwo Jima flag, and the area is posted accordingly. The Museum reserves the right to post other areas as needed to ensure that fragile objects are protected. Repeated use of your flash in crowded conditions may disturb other visitors. Please respect your fellow Museum visitors.
Depending on when he served, you can contact HQMC records. Just "google" "hqmc records". NATIONAL PERSONAL RECORDS CENTER
If you go into the museum there is a kiosk that will give you very specific directions to the brick
I don't remember that specifically, but I do want to say it is covered in the museum.
There is a curator listed for the Museum, who would probably would be thrilled to get them for the Museum.
I'm not sure about Memorial day, but yes you can see it in one day. There's a lot to see, but you can.
Masks are no longer required, too!!
I'm not completely sure, but I have heard they are usually somewhere around $200.
The closest major airport would be Reagan National Airport which is 37 miles. Quantico VA is a small town.
I'm sorry for your loss
It looks to be an artist’s rendition of the Iwo Jima flag raising.
Inside right at the front of the gift shop
Unfortunately, the Museum does not have a date set to reopen. Please keep checking our website (usmcmuseum.com) or our social media platforms (@usmcmuseum) for updates.
The Museum's soaring design evokes the image of the flag-raisers at Iwo Jima.
Military members may book you a lodging if space is available.
Hi Kathleen -- Dogs are welcome on the grounds of the Museum (look for designated relief areas). Service dogs and military, state and federal working dogs are allowed inside the Museum. Please see our Plan Your Visit page for more information: https://www.usmcmuseum.com/plan-your-visit.html.
Hi Pamela! The Museum does have two places where you can eat lunch during your visit! Both located are on our second deck. There is the Devil Dog Diner which is open from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and has hot food options and grab-and-go options. There is also have Tun Tavern which is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and offers a full lunch menu. We hope you enjoy your visit!
Yes, I was just there and there are some very good presentations, videos and other background. Both of the flags raised at ewo jima are also there.
Yes they do when I did a google search. If not hubby said try sgtgrit.com
Korea we are really still at war with N Korea. We had just a cease fire with them

The grounds of the Museum are open until sunset every day. Visitors can walk Semper Fidelis Memorial Park and visit the Chapel.
It depends on how much you prefer to read and how emotionally connected you are to the events. I have been there twice and 2 hours each time was not enough. Allow yourself a good amount of time so you don't miss anything in this amazing place
Yes, you can take photos and video.
Rations, cups, shirts, candy, dog tags, all kinds of gifts. Normal abd military related.
According to Wikipedia: Curtis W. Fentress.
You definitely want to allocate at least 3 hours to explore this magnificent museum.
There is a HMM-364/881 South monument in the memorial park. I am unsure about within the museum, there is soooo much to see and read. Contact them directly or as suggested above, but really you should visit either way.
It's good that you ask and understand the concerns with packs. Yes , they check, as they should, and yes. Once cleared you may gain entry. Safety first. Thank you for your service!
Yes, I agree. Should be fairly easy to use one. I hope you enjoy your visit.
No scooter rental, but they do have free wheelchairs for visitors to use.
There is a I-95 on ramp North and South of the museum. If you feel unsafe making a left you can turn right out of the museum & use that 95 enterance or the overpass to turn around. As this is still within the DC commute area and the base employs a large population traffic can be extremely congested during peak travel times and on the weekend. VDOT probably does not see justification to increase the congestion this close to a major intersection for the sporadic museum traffic. The slight adjustment to your travel plans will usually work to reduce a great amount of stress.
If you were looking for an overnight place to stay while visiting the museum, here's some info for you on local RV parks close to the museum: RV parks - Aquia Pines (4.7 miles) haven't stayed with our RV here 3071 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Stafford, VA 22554 Prince William Forest RV Campground (4.7 mi) - National Park Service Nice RV Campground, clean, and attendants are friendly/helpful 16058 Dumfries Rd, Dumfries, VA 22025 Wal-Mart (4.7 mi) I've seen people pull an overnight stay here. Personal preference would be to stay at NPS RV park over this Walmart, but to economize, I'd understand going the Walmart route. :-) 17041 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Dumfries, VA 22026 Just saw this question, so the original poster may have already visited the park. Between all of the answers given, all the bases should be covered. Enjoy your visit! The Museum is worth the effort.
Free of charge. There is a restaurant and and a cafeteria. There is also a gift shop
