The restaurant is currently closing at 2, so we missed it, but the lady at the terminal was very friendly and helpful, she recommended a restaurant within walking distance. Nice airport

Depends on the winds. This morning isn't terrible, but yesterday was raining ash all afternoon.
There is a helicopter that takes you over Big Bear. I'm not sure if he charters from other airports into Big Bear. You could check the airport out of Fontana, I know some people who fly from there into Big bear often.
