The long and short of it is that the Rangers and staff were outstanding! The bathrooms and showers were clean (showers were tokens only and 4 minutes costs you $1). The downside was the lake was unsuitable for swimming and the poison park is out of control. Also the camp hosts did NOT enforce quiet time and the maintenance crew started we’d whacking at 7am.

We had a great time ultimately and the camp sites and the bathrooms were very clean. The staff was outstanding as well! However, There was a serious poison oak problem growing around the perimeter of all 3 of our sites. The staff was very accommodating and moved us to some new sites away from the poison oak (thankfully there was available spaces to make that possible). In addition though, the lake was absolutely unswimmable with murk and several dead fish floating in the swimming area (as well as the rest of the lake) we drove 20 minutes away to highland springs recreation area to swim. Not exactly easy beach access but swimmable and fun, complete with a rope swing! A welcome relief from the heat! (Very crowded on the weekends.)

Glad we were here during the slow season. Still had great weather and zero crowds. Got a great site near the lake and really enjoyed it. Will return in the off season- it's a really clean & quiet campground.

I went there in October. It was a comfortable campsite. The nearby river was dry, but we were able to go kayaking in the lake. The lake was not clear and did not look suitable for swimming. Be careful not to get into the swamp at the river. …

Is there a gate that closes at a certain time? Or can I get in there even if its late?

There is not a closed gate to the park. If you come in after hours, you just go back to the entrance the next day and register in. Or a ranger will notify you the next day to come to the entrance to register and pay your fee . They make regular rounds.

How much do the camp sites cost please let me know asap
