nice park, incredibly dry.. not sure if because of water consumption by local walnut farmers.. maybe comes to life more in winter/spring when it isn't so dry? seemed like the park was full of dead trees

Very nice camping areas and hiking areas, but can be quite loud, especially with children running around. Still quite pleasant though.

Been to the state park campgrounds, must say the place has been maintained neatly. Not sure how clean the water is for swimming purpose, but saw many folks enjoying in water. Good atmosphere, clean flush toilets , vast parking space, good trails, overall experience was good.

Beautiful park and weather for some light hiking/day use. Checked out the Dorn Nature Trail, the boardwalk along Kelsey Slough and Indian Nature Trail. Lots of wildlife - birds, tons of turtles sunning themselves in the slough and wildflowers. Read other views about the lake smelling, but this was not the case during our visit.

It's about $8 now.
This is the only public camping on Clear Lake. Three camping areas, most with some form of shade. Swim beach has great views and very refreshing. Short hikes, boat launch, nice group area, clean restrooms. Open year round - did someone mention the summer heat?
Not along the lake but there are hiking trails with beautiful views go check it out
Dogs allowed on leashes in campgrounds and roads. Not on dirt trails. I walk my dog there almost every day. Very enjoyable.
Yes and you can't leave it smoldering has to be completely out before you leave campsite
It is if there open spots available, but your best bet is to make a reservation on state parks website or find a private camp ground out there.
When you make your reservation online, the map will show your site in relation to the bathrooms and allow to be closer or further depending on your preference.
Deers are the only ones we saw , fishing was nice, people walking their dogs, it was very nice there.
I've seen them in the bathrooms... It's a great place - enjoy! :)
Depends on what you like and when you are there. Sometimes the lower sites (kelsey creek) will be partially flooded... Sometimes in the middle of lower people will walk through your campsite instead of around to get to restroom. Middle of the week you may have the upper campground completely to yourself. Some of the upper views are phenomenal. Also more wildlife in the upper, deer, etc.
Far as i know it doesn't have a pool .
It's $8 for the day. But Lakeport library park and redbud park in Clearlake are free. All nice.
Hi Laurie, You need to make reservations weeks or even months ahead of time. Depending on the campsite, pricing varies!
The water is great around this time cause the algae is going away cause of the cold weather
It is open, but they will be doing water main work in the park during the October and November months. Check the State Parks website for specific dates. Often cold and wet, but can be dry. High chance of Extreme Fire Hazard Conditions. The Cabins are super cute!
No dry camping.. They have showers and Bathrooms.. They also have a dumping stations
It wasn't open this past weekend (4/21-22). I believe it opens Memorial day weekend.
It was in 2016. All good now. Well down from flood stage.
The Group Campsites are along a boggy creek, Kelsey Slough. Pretty, but not the lake. Look at the campground map. You'll see sites 58-60 and 62-65 in the Kelsey Creek Campground, right on the water. 3 or 4 have their own beach access. Across the bridge at site#58 is a larger beach for everyone. But the swimming/picnic in day use area is the largest & best access for swimming, kayaking and innertubing.
Zeke, the spots are nice, plenty with shade trees and a number of beach access sites (try sites #58, 65 and 66). Between 57 & 58 is a little footbridge. Explore it and see what awaits you there! ReserveCalifornia lists the current pricing at $30 for campsites and $60 for cabins and offers handicapped discounts. We prefer May June months for greenest foliage and highest water levels. Nature walks offer outstanding bird sightings! Good Luck!
Yes an u can Google it
Yes there is space for that. Some spaces are tighter than others but you should fit.
