If you want to start on a meditation journey, this is a good way to jump-start. The 10-day course was a wonderful way to learn the technique and first-hand experience the benefits. You literally have to experience it to believe it.

Vipassana retreats have been the most profound experiences of my life. The forest here in spring is a welcoming container for such deep inner work.

Silent Meditation Retreat... I haven't been yet, but I have been in communication with them during the application process and they've been very courteous and professional. My breast friend and her husband have both attended their 10 day program and were really happy with their experience. This place operates solely upon donations and never charge you for attending, and they won't even allow you to make a donation until you've successfully completed your first 10 day session, but after that they'll graciously accept whatever you can afford or choose to give. Space is limited and you have to be able to meet the requirements for physical and mental health as well as agree to certain stipulations such as no tobacco, drugs, alcohol, or meat during your stay, and of course complete silence and a lot of meditation. It's September now and I won't be able to get in on a session until at least December. However, I'm greatly looking forward to it.

This practice has changed my life. I have been practicing since 1995 and the meditation courses provide a practical tool (the meditation technique which is taught in the course,) to become a better person. This center is beautiful in the hills of Kelseyville and wholesome vegetarian meals are served. What is great is that this center is primarily run by volunteers so there is no underlying aspect of someone trying to sell a product or service. I highly recommend taking a course and giving it a try. It is extremely powerful and will help you be a better human and feel happier inside.

The sleeping cabins indeed are heated during winter. The Dhamma Hall, though temperature controlled, is not heated simply because it remains at a constant (and mostly comfortable) temperature year round. But you can use blankets, which are supplied or bring your own.
If you haven't recieved a confirmation email already, you should be receiving it any day now. The email will have all the details of what to bring and what to expect. For sleeping, a bedspread, blanket and a pillow cover if you are not camping. The location is scenic and right in the middle of nature, you might need to carry a couple warm sweaters/shawls for the early mornings. Have fun!
It depends on the number of students attending, and the number of times you've taken the course (more "senior" students get preference for the single occupancy rooms)
Hi Claudia, there is a ride-share page online where you can request a ride. It will be (a link?) on the same page where you confirm your attendance to the course - and you can get that link from the confirmation email that would have received.
It's a donation based program. You can also let them know about your condition.
