The volunteers are absolutely amazing. We now have two adopted rescue cats from POA that are so wonderful, 7 year old Tippy and 3 month old Caprice. We will be getting one more sweet cat in a few weeks after she has completed some dental work. Can't wait to welcome home sweet Bonnie. 💕

$325 - $375 depends on age
Def call POA if they can't help they'll tell who can. Wonderful people. You're a good person and good luck.
We often have dog food donations given to us. You are welcome to call and arrange a time to stop by once a month to pick some up. Call 860-569-0722 and leave a message.
Please visit POASpay.org or call 860-206-7922 for all the spay information you need.
You have to sign up to be a volunteer. After that it depends on whoever is setting up the event
I'd call your local Animal Control and have them take the dog and they can work with local shelters.
We only take cats and dogs. Try the CT Ferret Association at https://ferretassn.org/
They only have a spay clinic, you'd have to go to a vet or look into Petco vet days
During the week the clinic is staffed by volunteers taking care of the residents, you may find after 4 a good time or on Saturday between 10 and 2.
Always. Please visit https://poainc.org/cats-for-adoption/ to see cats currently available and fill out an application. Someone from the placement team will be in touch with you to arrange a meeting. Thank you!
Email them from the website to discuss the issue, depending on location they can help direct to the proper resources.
Protectors of Animals takes stray and abandoned cats, not personal surrenders. We recommend going to Petfinder.com and click on 'Finding an Animal Shelter or Rescue Group' under the Shelters and Recues section. Put in your zip code and contact the organizations that come up on your list.
Protectors of Animals takes in strays or dogs from our local municiple pounds. We recommend going to Petfinder.com and click on 'Finding an Animal Shelter or Rescue Group' under the Shelters and Recues section. Put in your zip code and contacting the organizations that come up on your list.
Please call 860-569-0722 and leave a message in the cat mailbox. Be sure to leave your name, town and phone number and someone will get back to you.
Protectors of Animals rescue dogs without homes (out of local pounds and strays from the street). Please try the CT Humane Society.
Yes, we really appreciate donations of pet medications. Please ring the doorbell and let them know if anything needs to be refrigerated. Thank you for thinking of us.
Protectors of Animals runs a food pantry at the cat shelter (144 Main St, Unit O, East Hartford). You are able to come once a month for food. Please call and leave a message at 860-569-0722 and someone will call you back.
Please go to our web site to download (https://poainc.org/cats-for-adoption/) and fill out an application. If approved, we will keep it on file and let you know when kittens are available. The number of kittens available for adoption are very limited this time of year. There are many more kittens available in the spring and summer.
This question was directed to the Protectors of Animals shelter. Please call the spay/neuter clinic POASpay at 860-206-7922 to ask about their schedule.
Up to 6 months is $250 for a single for $400 for a bonded pair.
Protectors of Animals does not take privately surrendered cats. We rescue cats off the streets. You should contact the Connecticut Humane Society in Newington. They do require a donation.
Are there any volunteer opportunities at this time?
Go through your veterinarian!
Yes they have dogs for adoption🐕
$200 for a kitten (6 months or younger) ; $300 for 2 kittens adopted together $150 for an adult cat (older than 6 months) ; $250 for 2 cats adopted together $75 for senior cats (older than 7 years) & FIV + cats Sometimes they also have cats for $50 (like now)
Go-to the website and complete a foster application.
I’m looking to volunteer at the animal shelter I’m 15 years old
How much is the fee to adopt a puppie?
You could also drop it at the POA spay clinic on the other side of the building and tell them it's for the shelter.
Nope just cats, dogs kittens and puppies.
Yes they do.
Usually not, you provide your name and wait to be called into the cat area, usually they have your name with the adoption form. You can explain your situation but they do have procedures they follow. It is true about getting in line early if you are serious about getting a kitten.
They are a spay and neuter clinic not a Vet clinic
When we asked well there they said they can use some volunteers that were under the age of 18 for very specific events. I would send them an email and ask it's your under 18 what you can do to help. They need all the help they can get. :-)
Adult dog (12 months and older): $325 Puppies (11months and younger): $375 Bonded Pair: $500
They sometimes have a wait list, best to call them to see if they have any openings.
You need to direct questions by calling not asking on Google.
$325 - $375 adult or puppy
No

They are open today for adoptions, just not sure what time. I am sure they would be very appreciative.
Yes I will be a honor.
I am sure they do. Its kitten season right now. POA has adoptions tomorrow. On June10, at Pet Supplies Plus, Silas Deane Hwy Wethersfield, POA is having their kitten shower. You can bring donations and they will have kittens there too!
You need to fill out an application. Go to the actual address in East Hartford (or visit their website, I think), and they will walk you through the process of adopting a kitten.
The Cat, Mr. Fluffer Nutter, is a 6 yr. Old stray that I have fed and taken into my home every winter for the past 5 yrs.. Fluffy desperately needs to be trapped as he is bleeding from his LEFT EAR, (Looks like someone in the neighborhood kicked him or he might have gotten into a fight with a wild animal, I dont know for sure???), It breaks my heart that he is hurt and bleeding really bad out of his ear and he will no longer trust me enough to come near me any longer. That's why I think someone hurt him on purpose! I am on S.S. Disability and I have no way to come get the Trap as I do not have a car that is Reg. Or Ins. Is there anyway that someone can bring me a Trap and then come get him and care for him after he is trapped?
The cat shelter in East Hartford is open Saturdays from 10:30am to 4pm and the first Wednesday of every month from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
