The soil testing boxes are available during non business hours, super convenient. The Cabarrus County location does not have 24-7 service from what I could tell, so this was my only weekend option. Foliage around building is really nice.

Friendly and helpful! Soil sample boxes are actually available 24-7 so you don’t have to try to get there during banker hours.

Questions & Answers

How do I get a soil sample tested for vegetable garden safety?

Soil test boxes are available any time in the brown wall cabinet at the building entrance. The N.C.D.A. tests soil nutrient levels and makes lime and fertilizer recommendations.

The Kits and information sheets are in a brown wall cabinet outside the main entrance. You may pick them up anytime. The address to which the sample(s) are sent is on the information sheet.

I asked the question about soil testing. One side of the proposed garden site is adjacent to a garage. Is there a different test for possible chemical contamination?

That is not covered by the NCDA soil tests which are looking at fertility. You would need to find a private lab for that type of testing.

when is the right time to fertilize my evergreens?

Generally you want to fertilize in the spring before new growth starts.

Moles have taken over our front yard. Just had the whole area turned over, added soil and replanted grass but the little creatures are back tunneling again. What to do?
