I don't recall reading anything about that when I signed up, so to get a better answer, I asked the workers at my 'home gym'. And I believe you may have misunderstood? You can bring one visitor with you to whatever planet fitness gym is set as your home gym (the one you signed up at generally) any time that you go IF you have PF+. It is limited to only one guest at a time though. I don't know if that helps any?

If you pay $10 it is go as you pay but the services are limited. You will not have access to specific equipment or massage equipment or tanning beds. If you pay $20 you will sign a contract but it is only for auto withdrawal and you can give them written notice to stop at any time. That option gets you access to everything available.
