Great place to do research and hang out to read.

The lack of qualified leadership has led to a brain drain as many wonderful librarians and staff have left for better working conditions. The appointments and interim appointments don’t have the experience needed to keep our great library, great. The library advisory board is not communicated with in a timely and truthful manner, so they cannot do their job. Someone more worried about what office she has than the free access to materials should not be in charge here. Sad for the non-white/ non-straight people of Anchorage as it will take decades to undo the damage.

Highlights: fast wifi and a very nice, modern building. Lowlights: the printer process is not at all user friendly; there’s a free public phone on the second floor where people are often having a drama-filled conversation; one of the staffers had “no idea how to use the printers” and didn’t seem to care about learning how.

Try going there, that might yield better results.
Hi Connie- The COVID testing is not run by the library but we are proud to offer the space in our parking lot to the provider. For the most current testing hours and locations visit https://anchoragecovidtest.org .
Hi Roy- Yes we our open today (Monday October 11th). Holiday closures will always be posted on our website at https://www.anchoragelibrary.org/about/using-the-library/hours-locations/holiday-closures/ ~APL
Hi Kathleen- The Library accepts donations of like-new materials for the book sales. While we do accept paperback books, we're especially interested in donations of hardcover bestselling titles and authors in both fiction and nonfiction, picture books, juvenile and teen series and DVDs. You can learn more about donating at http://www.anchoragelibrary.org/about/get-involved/donate-materials/ - Thank you for thinking of us~ APL
Hi Marty- When you visit our website, type the name of the item you’re looking for into the center box marked “catalog”. Items listed as at APL can be checked out directly from us, often same day. Our joint catalog also gives you access to over 90% of the state libraries items. If an item is checked out it will show it’s due date. From your online account you can place a hold on the item and have it sent to the closest location near you when it’s available . Stop in to any location and we’ll be happy to show you how.
No
Hello! Any item can be located using the catalog search on our website at www.anchoragelibrary.com that will search both our shelves (and those of dozens of partner libraries across the state) as well as the Alaska Digital Library. The listing will show where the book is located and if it is checked out, on hold or in transit.
Yes! Printing is 20 cents per page black and white and $1 per page for color.
Yes. But double check the hours each day as the Loussac does close at 6pm some days.
Closed today, New Year holiday.
Hi Margaret- Anchorage Public Library no longer charges late fines on our materials, however if the item was borrowed through us, from a partner library, they may charge late fines. An item that is missing from our system that long, may also fall into lost status and could receive a lost item fee. The best thing to do for items that you know will be missing for an extended time is to give us a call at (907) 343-2975, so we can make a note on your account. ~ APL
Hi Tevin- Your PIN number is a 4 digit number set by you when you set up your card. To get your PIN, go to any library information desk or call 343-2975, select #5. Once you logon with your library card and PIN numbers at My Account, you may renew items, change your pin number, and place holds.
If they don't, I do. I'm in the market for something to hang over my fire place. A statement piece... something that says.... look at me. Thumbs up if you're interested. Willing to make trades. I have many fine art and taxidermy pieces.
Last I checked, it was a Maximum of 50 Books at any given time. Though this number may have been reduced.
