The 15 campsites at this first come first serve campground are set among boulders and dynamic rock formations. There is no running water but two vault toilets are available. Most of the campsites are close to the road but some are more secluded. There is little to no shade in the sites so plan on bringing an EZ-up or some form of covering during the summer months because the desert temperature can be unbearable. There are two rock attractions (heart rock and arch rocks) nearby and although only campers are supposed to park in the campground there are many hikers who loose their way and find themselves in the campground.

Go to White Tank, find campsite you want, leave cash in envelope to cover number of days you are staying. You pay onsite at entrance to White Tank near restrooms. Write Camp number on envelope. Think it's around $15 a day unless you are Disabled Veteran. Then it's $7.50 a day, follow instructions at payment drop box.
There's an old dam hidden in amongst the boulders, yes.
Friday up until early afternoon you have a good chance. After that it is very unlikely unless you are way out of season (really hot or cold)
I saw dogs in the campground, but on the trails they are not allowed.
