Looks nice, the little swimming pond is not maintained at all. It will be gone soon. Too bad. May explain thr wonderful lack of people.

Very quiet & Relaxing place. We stayed about 5 hours cooked some food on the grill. I gave it FOUR STARS, but then dropped it to a three because there is no way I would eve go swimming in that pond. Not sure about fishing it or putting a boat in there. Can anybody tell me if the gates close automatically on a timer??? We thought it closed @ 5:00pm. By the time we started to leave it was 5:04 we then pulled over at the top to check everything., Whe we drove by the gate upon leaving "THE GATE WAS CLOSED" And there was nobody around to close it. The car clock said 5:09. So I'll ask again. IS THE GATE ON A TIMER??

Great hike, fresh air, relaxing...

Went hunting today where my grandfather, father and I hunted for years. On the hill where Carlton Rd meets Dirth Rd.. I could not hunt on that hill. Most of the trees were cut down. Please do not destroy any more hunting grounds there. 😪

Yes! There's an amazing variety of single track and dirt roads! Park at the Ranger Station when it's not beach season. In summer I like to park on Davis (off Mormon Hollow), before the bridge over the brook. Enjoy!
Noone came around and told us. And when we got to the top we pulled over to grab a couple waters for the ride home. When we pulled out the gate was closed. No Rangers anywhere, t That's why I asked.
Not as far as I saw when I was there, there's a little bit of paved road near the entrance, up to the lot by the lake, but the trails are dirt, and the rest of the roads are gravel. There's also no bathrooms, accessible or not.
No
There's a sand beach they maintain in the summer season.
They are open all year, no matter the weather. In the winter it's a good idea to bring snow shoes or x-country skis. Many people ski in the snowy conditions.
The hiking is awesome, but as far as I know, you can only camp at a designated location. Check with the DCR
There are no campsites but there is a lean-to shelter that is free to stay at: https://newenglandtrail.org/facilities/wendell-state-forest-shelter
