Boys had a great time from our scout Troup here. Ski are is small and runs are easy. Snow was man made and starting to get spring skiing in at the end of February. However, would highly suggest going. The Tubing the night before all of the scouts enjoyed and they closed the tubing down that night.

Remarkably poor experience. This was our second time coming to Winterplace, and last year’s trip went very smoothly so this trip was very disappointing. We went this year from Wednesday through Saturday for 1 day of night skiing and 2 full days. When we went to rent our skis, we were informed for the first time that the slopes were not skiable and wouldn’t be open that day. We drove 6 hours and had no knowledge of this until we were there. The conditions and amount of snow was the best I’ve ever seen. However, the resort must be extremely poorly managed, since only 1/6 of the slopes were open, the staff was unknowledgeable and many were rude, and ticket prices were much more expensive than last year. The day we left, there was only 1” more of natural snow according to their website yet they went from 5 to 13 slopes being open. They definitely had the capacity to open them up during the week, but they neglected to plow the unopened slopes and barely scheduled enough staff to man 3/7 lifts. We paid the same amount for lift passes as someone who came the day after we left would and instead of getting to ski the whole resort and having access to all lifts and slopes, we had to wait in long lines for the 3 lifts that were open and ski the same 3 slopes that were super crowded. Additionally, the staff never checked the lift tickets once, so many people could’ve cheated the system if they wanted. The one positive was Greg, one of the staff members who was very friendly and handed out stickers to us.

Growing up in WV, this is one ski resort I've never been to but I wish I had. Every single employee was beyond nice and helpful. The ski lift operators would ask if he needed to slow down the lift each time because my son was a beginner🤗. Unfortunately I did get injured and had to be taken off the trail by the Ski Patrol who were extremely courteous. It wasn't crowded and was a great place for my son's first time skiing. Their chili was also delicious! Although smaller than the other ski resorts in WV, I will definitely be back because it was affordable, easy to access, and all the employees were extremely courteous 😊🎿

I've always gone in February and skiing has been great. They won't open until the middle of December 2020. Open today, Saturday, December 26, 2020, 8:30 am to 9 pm.
Their tentative opening date for the 2021/2022 season is December 18th.
Yes, the restaurant in the main lodge is delicious - I recommend the burgers, fries, and chili cheese dog. They also have healthy options such as salads and hummus. Their chocolate chip cookies are the bomb-diggity!
They dont
There is an updated daily weather report on their website.
Check the website. They should have all the information there.
Yes daddy I sell anything for the right price
Unfortunately not. Though we have tremendous snow making compacity, the tubing park is the last area groomed.
At this point, only day hours. 8am thru 4:30 pm. During the season proper Sundays is a good day to slide. Have fun
Should be, we're open when I went.
I dont think so because of security but u can buy online b4 u get there and have it wait on u
Yes. They are allowed on the property. They must be certified to enter the building's. Please be careful being that the temperatures are well below freezing at this time
Both lodges have places to watch from, but it depends on how advanced the shower you are watching is. Beginners can be watched from the main resort center, but more advanced skiers are easier to watch at the Mountain House.
There is a learn to ski package that includes a lift ticket and group lessons. It was very reasonably priced IIRC. Be sure to take snow boots or other warm shoes for snow tubing. No ski boots allowed when snow tubing. Check the web site for specials on lift tickets or other packages.
Being a Security Supervisor at Winterplace for 14 yrs, you will be asked if you would like to purchase a tubing ticket, which is separate from your lift ticket, at the time you purchase your lift ticket. Tubing tickets can be purchased separately for those that do not ski in your party. Come and have fun. I'm Jean Natz in security. See you soon
