The visit was on a free day so there were many people, especially in areas with beautiful gardens or architecture. Overall, a beautiful place to visit. There's a gift shop that has many succulents for sale that are reasonably priced. The dining area is beautiful and interesting. There are many open areas with beautiful and calm space. Was I wrong or I heard cicadas singing! They're beautiful! The bathrooms inside the garden are clean and well maintained.

The gardens are beautiful! I highly recommend coming here if you're interested in marveling at the flowers, roses and way more! The Rose Garden has to be the best part of it. Ticket prices as of when I'm writing this are $15 for an adult, $11 for a student w/ ID or senior, $5 for children ages 6-12, and free for children under 6. These prices can change, and you can check it at Descanso's website. Parking is free, and it's very easy to drive in. If you decide not to buy advance tickets online, you'll have to wait in a mediocrely long line, sometimes longer. I highly suggest buying tickets online as you can walk right into the Visitor Center and up to the ticket agents in the front ready to scan your ticket. You can also re-enter when you leave for a short-period of time, just make sure to ask the agent first so they remember you. It takes about 2-3 hours to look around all see all the parts of the garden, so make sure to bring some snacks, water, and comfortable shoes. There's also decent cell service in the area, so you should be able to call for help if you're in trouble or need help. Also, it shouldn't be that easy to get lost as there are many signs around the entire garden guiding you by saying what is in what direction, how long it'll take to walk there, and if it's moderate to steep terrain or not. Anyway, it was a great time. Definitely recommend visiting.

Gorgeous magical place with a ton of flowers in blossom. April is definitely one of the best months to visit with so many trees and flowers in full blossom! Very easy to buy tickets online and skip the line, love the park layout with both exotic flowers and California native plants. Will be coming here again and again.

Received a recommendation to visit Descanso Gardens while visiting the La Cañada area as they went to see the Enchanted Forest of Lights. However, I came during the day to see the botanical garden. It was a Thursday afternoon , but there was plenty of parking available and the grounds weren't crowded at all. There were about 10 distinct areas that represented areas of California, North America, and Japan. All the areas, plants, flowers, trees, and water features were well maintained and properly cared for. There were many different paths that all connected so you were able to pick your own journey at your own pace. It took a little longer than an hour to casually walk through all the areas. The Gardens were a perfect place to sit, relax, and interact with nature. I enjoyed seeing everything during the day, but would also like to come back to see the Enchanted light feature. This place is amazing. You really do feel at peace when walking around this garden. The parking was free but entrance cost $15 for adults and children under five are free. We spent an hour walking around and we only covered half of the park. We got train tickets and that was pretty fun.

Admission to Descanso Gardens is free the 3rd Tuesday of every month.
$9 general admission. Discounts are for students, seniors and military if I remember correctly.
They don't allow food within the gardens, but there is a lot of seating/benches just outside the main entrance and along the path from parking to the entrance. It's not uncommon to bring food and eat there. There is plenty of trash and recycle bins as well.
I believe it's all free wants you get in
Yes you do with an important exception. Descanso Gardens enforces a 90 mile exclusion rile. That means as an AHS member, they look at your home address and if that is within 90 miles of Descanso, you have to pay normal admission.
Go to their website. Tickets can be purchased online as non-members require advanced purchase at this time. https://www.descansogardens.org/tickets/
Unfortunately no they don't allow pets unless it's a Ada designated service animal
$9 general $6 seniors and students
Yes one by the entrance &one by the middle of the garden
The light show is seasonal depending on the seasonal event
Succulent.
Yes! Maple is the restaurant and they are open periodically. Sometimes they close early if there is nobody there. Then there is concessions or rather small sandwiches and eats.
Up to 6.
Members don't need a reservation, but non members do. We are members and we've been twice in the last week without a reservation
U need to go online or call it's ther only way u can do it .
It should be around $9 per person, and $6 for 12 something like that
Go-to website DecanoGardens.com I think?? Or Google the website name??
Does not apply for free day. This takes place in the evening...specific times and tickets are required. :-)
Yes there is parking
No, motorized carts. Most of the walking paths are not paved and wouldn't lend well to the typical motorized carts or wheelchairs.
$9 per person, $6 for Seniors 65+ or Students with ID, Kids 5 thru 12 are $4
They are absolutely beautiful. The tulips are spectacular this week! (3/29/18)
Yes you can
They have several wheelchairs you can borrow to get around the gardens
Electronic works. They can scan it from your phone screen.
Monday-Friday in the morning. Avoid holidays if possible.
There are paved walkways, dirt paths and in some places steep hills, a scooter won't go everywhere but you can see a lot. I'm sure they will let you in. But call just in case.
They have a Free Tuesday. Check website 4 dates General admission $15, Seniors 11. ID of course. Since its outside I saw a few without Mask but most were wearing them
Check their website
Yes, for members no need to make appointments only.
They are pretty much all gone. Only very few were still on the trees last week.
So, Descanso Gardens members have reciprocal admission rights to gardens throughout the country. However: 1.) Due to COVID restrictions, Descanso Gardens is not honoring reciprocity at the moment and 2.) There is an exclusion policy of members of botanical gardens within a 90 mile area (so in other words garden like Santa Barbara, but not say San Diego)
We had 3 tickets but only 2 people showed up . We were told we could get a refund for that one ticket .
Probably not, it will depend on how many others did not show up as they have a occupancy limit. You should not be surprised to be told to return at your reserved time.
Download the App. Your code should be available within 24 hours. I believe you have access with your phone number as well.
I believe they are in bloom starting now.
The lilac garden is still there, although not in bloom. I didn't notice much other than succulents in the gift shop as far as potted plants go.
We actually didn't realize you needed tickets in advance till we got to Descanso Gardens... So we just stepped away a few feet I went right on my phone and got them immediately and walked in... Maybe they're having a little glitch in their system and it'll be up soon, hopefully.
No. They do not allow picnicking: https://www.descansogardens.org/visit/garden-etiquette-and-practices/
I don't think so. You might get a discount though.
Yes, online tickets. No need if you are a member.
We can't say for sure, but traditionally the cherry trees bloom in late-March, early-April.
You can take more time if you'd like, but 90 minutes is plenty of time to walk through the gardens. For me, I decided to get a membership to support this green space. So it's nice to go often and walk for 45_60 minutes sitting as I find a spot to admire the pond, a Grove or a nice planted area.
Yes, we are open. Tickets must be reserved in advance. Schedules and prices can be found at respogardens.org
Unfortunately, No. Descanso Gardens does not allow animals, except for ADA-designated service animals.
Both
Mobile is good. Have done this in the past eithout problems.
Service animals only
Don't have bed bugs. Symptoms began to occur 3-4 hours soon after I left D.G. (approx 4pm). And as far as being grammatically sound, it was a typographical error knucklehead.
They require a reservation and a fee for posed photography, including quinceañeras. Check out their policy page: https://www.descansogardens.org/rentals/photography/
Don't think so.
November is a great time to visit 😊.
Was a visitor a couple times and didnt see any wheel chairs offered there as well
There is a Japanese garden with tables and stools but you have to bring your own tea and cups, there is also a restaurant by the entrance, I don't know if they serve tea. Enjoy tour visit!!
Adult $9, children under 12 $4. Children under 4 years free admission. FREE ON EVERY 3RD TUESDAY of every month
Yes a permit is needed for wedding photos
Your exit is Angeles Crest . Follow the map, is a few blocks from the exit
They do not check bags. But they recommend no outside food. Unless it is for children
Yes, $9 adult. Kids are less. Kid train tickets are $3.
You can find all of the answers to your questions on their site. All of the flowers you are asking about are blooming now. I wouldn't wait, go now. Great thing about this park is that there are many places to sit as you walk the park. If you don't want to walk far, there is a lot of flowers just as you enter the park. The third Tuesday of every month the entry fee is free. I'd suggest you go early and bring your own lunch. There are many very nice places to eat your lunch and gaze at all the different plants and flowers.
Call ahead to be sure it's in stock. Inventory changes.
Yes everyone has to pay. $9 for the ticket
Its worth a drive to the gardens to ask, but also spend a very enjoyable time with the beautiful enviorment.
You can purchase at the gate or online. Credit/debit card is acceptable. I would suggest you buy online to avoid the long wait in the line.
Hi,and that case you need to call to arrange days, cause in the weekend is packed !!
When I went we didn't have to wait too long Wonderful day there
9 dollars for adult general admission, 3 dollars for a ticket for kiddie train kind of like a Disney experience
Tulips are blooming like crazy right now. Gardenias as well. Maybe try calling and asking about what you would like to see best.
Not sure, there is always something to look at which can be a nice flower. Call for information. Spring time is best to see flowers blooming.
Yes, call thr office.
General $9, Seniors / Students with ID $6, Children (5 to 12 years old) $4. Free Tuesdays, check their website https://www.descansogardens. org
Yes
You have choices! There is one free day per month, third Tuesday. General Admission $9 Seniors 65+ & Students With ID $6 Children 5-12 $4 Children Under 5 Free
Yes Rose garden is still open
No. The gardens are for walking, watching, and enjoying only, no fishing or otherwise disturbing wildlife.
I'm pretty sure you can only bring service dog's. But you can call them.
They sometimes have issues with their online site so it'd be best to either visit them in person or call them over the telephone and get it situated
Third Tuesday of every month. Reserve your ticket online
No food allowed in (except food for babies and toddlers). There is a picnic area outside of Descanso, adjacent to the parking lot.
The third Tuesday of each month is free
It's called Enchanted: Forest Of Lights. It starts again in November. Tickets are timed entry. There is a link on their website under Events where you can sign up for updates
$12.00 dollars for adults
Adults $9 Children 5-12 $4 Seniors 65+ and Students with ID $6
I believe since they moved the ticketed entrance earlier this year, admission price is no longer required to access the Maple restaurant, the cafe, and the gift shop. While you can purchase your ticket from the booth before the courtyard, they now only take your ticket at the podium on the bridge past the courtyard.
Slow walk? Maybe an hour. Lots to see and admire, but not really large. With dawdling you could enjoy a couple of hours, but a quick loop or two could be done in 45 minutes.
I would apply online & then call them after a few days to check on the application
Parking is free.
Click the volunteer link. They can always use extra help.
According to their website they are open daily every day except December 25.
There are about 300 countrywide. You would have to check their website under membership.
It's a late start for them this season. I believe they're in bloom now.
Yes you can. A lot of nice places there. But wait 2-3 weeks for more green and colorful opportunities.
Yes, there is. It is pricey but it is very good, high quality food. It is worth the price. It is not fast food or vending machine style food. I posted pictures.
Best to call Descanso Gardens since weather can affect their blooming. We've gone and missed it by a week or so.
I went with the annual pass bit I believe $15/day if you are planning to go more than once is worthy to buy the annual pass for $ 60+
The only day Descanso closes is Christmas Day. They are open daily 9 to 5 with last entry at 430pm.
No animals.
No outside food and food only in authorized areas to protect the habitate. There are picnic benches outside. What is a "PERFECT" VIEW? It has many, many beautiful view points.
They are usually open until sundown but during Christmas they stay open til 10p. You have to pay always and the Christmas event you have to have preordered tickets since it is so popular. And they kick you out at closing.
No, you don't need to register.
Closed Christmas eve and Christmas day.
Camellia's begin to bloom in January. I visited just after New Year's day, and there were many beautiful blooms, with many more expected throughout the season.
No idea.
Purchasing a ticket at the counter allows you entrance aftet the ticket is in your possession. Purchasing a ticket in advance for a selected event or special venue does not allow you entrance before the date/time printed on the ticket.
Tough to answer but they have all variety of Camelia. I would go with spring time.
Last time i was there around 12:30 pm and there was a big crowd waiting for the train to come!
Free entry for all on the 3rd Tuesday of every month. Next one is Sept. 19th (2017)!
