Yes there are grassy areas throughout the grounds specially on the east side of the lake or in the rose garden.
You are not allowed to have picnics inside the gardens. There is a cafe near the entrance and if you are caught eating inside the gardens you might get kicked out. Descanso is trying to preserve the area with its natural wildlife and there's a possibility that ppl may leave their food behind for birds, deer, etc to eat that isn't part of their diet.
There are cafe tables you can you can picnic at near the entrance but picnicking on the grounds are prohibited. The possibility of trash being left is rather high so I get it
No but there is like a little area with like bench theater seating.
Not that i know of.....I was there at night.
