We spent a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon here with two adults and five children ages 6-18. There is so much to see we could have come back a second time. The children loved the art studio where they could create a work of art. Don't miss the Georgia O'Keeffe collection. The Discourse Coffeehouse in the lower level has the most delicious handcrafted drinks as well as sandwiches and bakery items. I recommend the Parisian matcha drink, it truly is a work of culinary art. I highly recommend visiting this art museum. Art from the 1300s through contemporary art as well a design.

Beautiful collections shown in that impressive building! The interior and exterior design makes it a piece of art on its own. The waterfront location with breathtaking views also adds to the amazing experience.

Such a great museum! I didn't want to leave, as we hadn't seen all of the galleries, but the kids were ready for food (if I'm honest, we were all fading). The sketching kits that you can pick up (free!) for the kids are an incredible idea, and was a perfect way to get and keep 6 and 7 year old kids interested in the art around them. I am looking forward to returning so I can see all of the myriad art pieces I missed!

I t was quite a while ago I was able to spend some time and check out this beautiful one of a kind structure! While visiting for work. The wings open at around 10am with the museum, and flap at noontime, then close when the museum closes. Worth seeing! In side the museum there is lots of space with views of the lake and lots of nice art. It is also located just steps away on the shores of Lake Michigan and can walk right in front of the lake and the museum while walking along the path

That would be $55 if the child is 13 or older. It would be $38 if the child is under 12. Children 12 and under are free since Kohls pays for them.
Absolutely! We welcome cameras and just ask that you not use flash (to protect the art), and leave any selfie-sticks, tripods, or other stabilization devices at home.
If the wind is below 26 MPH, 10am, flap at noon, go down when the museum closes.
It is open 10-5pm
Hi Maggie! We recommend reservations, which you can make on our website at mam.org/visit or by calling 414-224-3200. We do have flexibility on the reservation times; we ask that you try to arrive within a half hour of your reserved time, but if you're running earlier or later we'll still get you checked in without a problem. We do also have walk-up tickets available on a first come, first served basis; those tickets are released every 15 minutes. You're welcome to do walk-up tickets if you prefer, but with the holiday we are anticipating a busy weekend, so be aware that there might be a brief wait if you arrive at a particularly busy time. We hope to see you soon!
Adults $19, children under 12 free

Contact the museum's Art Curator(s) by calling or visiting their website: https://mam.org
The Museum is closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day in order to allow employees to celebrate and volunteer in the community.
The Museum owns a number of prints by Rembrandt, but for their protection, they're not on view currently. (You can see them with an appointment in the prints and drawings center.)
Don't know about tickets but you can purchase gift card on line which can be used to purchase tickets and goods at the museum.
The museum opens the roof when the museum opens in the morning. And they close the roof at noon, and reopen it after few minutes. They closes the roof when the museum closed in the afternoon. The actual time, you can check on the museum web site. But, be aware of if it is a windy day, the roof will not open! Check the weather.
The speciality of the place is First the building itself is architectural design and flamboyant. Secondly it has a great art gallery with wonderful pieces. Thirdly it has a beautiful gala area which can be used for bih events.
When the wind is below 20 miles an hour, the Burke Brise Soleil ("wings") opens when the Museum opens (10am Tuesday-Sunday), "flaps" (lowers and raises again) at noon, and closes when the Museum closes (5pm Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday-Sunday, 8pm Thursdays). They'll go up for special events at the Museum, such as MAM After Dark and weddings. When the wind is high, it automatically lowers or stays shut -- to protect the spines as well as to keep the glass in Windhover Hall safe. So if the weather's rough, it may seem a bit more random.
There are 99 spots in the underground Calatrava garage, and many hundreds in Museum Center Park (connected by a bridge) and at the War Memorial (connected to the Museum's East End. There is some street parking near Veterans Park as well.
Short answer: no. Longer answer: We're open on Mondays in the summer, Memorial Day through Labor Day, but closed on Mondays in the winter due to low Monday attendance. This year, we'll also be open on Monday, Dec 31 10am-5pm so you can get your art resolutions in before ringing in the new year.
No. There is dedicated charging in the Discovery World lot just across the lawn, though.
The first Thursday of every month is free for everybody! Come on down. The wings open at 10 am, flap at noon, and close when the Museum closes (5pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 8pm on Thursdays). If it's windy, we'll try to open them before they automatically come right back down, but if it's too windy, the safety systems keep the Museum all bundled up. Sometimes they'll open at night for weddings and events, too.
