This is a soothing place to visit, right in the middle of Lynchburg. The cemetery honors many African Americans as well as Union and Confederate soldiers. The grounds are well-maintained, and there are pretty garden areas. There are several buildings whete you can look in the window and see how people lived and worked back in the 1800s.There is a doctor's office, a surgery room, a "pest "house (where victims of pestilence we're kept). Free and open to the public.

Very interesting. A nice place for a walk into the history of burial sites.

Beautiful, tranquil setting both rich in history and horticulture delights.

If there was a half star I would do more of a 3 1/2. It was such a nice cemetery for one of that size. I liked the confederate soldier section a lot.

There are picnicking families regularly. Just, please, clean up, don't leave garbage, and be respectful that it, though an idyllic park setting, is a place of rest still used today.
Since I volunteer at the cemetery on Wednesdays Jeanette. You would have a better chance at asking them in person. If they haven't updated there facebook.
