I brought my son there, after being referred by Med Express on Timberlake Rd (who sent him immediately due to their inability to stop the vomiting) around 2pm on 6/8/22, who had been vomiting for 5 days off and on. That day, it had been consistent since he awakened. We were there for almost 8 hours before he was sent into the actual ER even though he was actively vomiting throughout the time there (including during his time in Triage). At 7pm (shift change), We were in Triage because he had an active line that was put in to administer nausea meds, and heard Lauren, who was beyond amazing, explain to Courtney (their station was on the other side of his partially open curtain) that she had selected him to be sent back NEXT to get a bed due to how bad he was still vomiting. After Lauren left, he vomited again and Courtney looked into the curtain, but NEVER entered to check on him. Shortly thereafter, Courtney sent someone else back. Around 10pm, he was 1 of 3 sent back but was the ONLY one sent to a CHAIR in the hall (2 empty beds lined the wall by that chair). So, he was there for almost 11 HOURS actively vomiting and remained in a CHAIR for the ENTIRE duration. His Dr, Nurse (Brooke) in the ER, and Lauren in Triage were wonderful. Courtney’s failure to care for her patient and execute Lauren’s direction to send him back next was unacceptable!!!!! The fact that he never received a bed was despicable. I would NEVER recommend this hospital as that experience was horrendous and was a horror story for my son who was so so sick. My heart was broken for him and everyone who needed care that day.

My grandfather was sent there by his regular heart doctor because he was in congestive heart failure and he sat there for over seven hours without seeing any doctor. When the nurse was asked how long it was going to be before a doctor comes and sees him he was told that his condition was not a priority so they couldn’t tell him how long it would be. How is this not a priority? Last time he went into this they had to do surgery but apparently tonight it doesn’t matter if he’s in congestive heart failure. Another bad experience I have had was last September i my boyfriend and I were in a car accident and they left my boyfriend strapped to a back board for over six hours and wouldn’t give him anything for pain or even come to him when he told them he had to use the bathroom. The doctor finally came in almost fourteen hours later and said “good news is nothing is wrong” then as she was walking out the door she turns around and says “but you do have a broken vertebrae in your back” so we sat there for another six or seven hours waiting for someone to come size him for a back brace. We were in the ED for over 24 hours. Then I went in for stomach pain one morning and after I was there all day they finally came in and said I needed emergency surgery because my appendix was bad and come to find out nothing was wrong with my appendix. After many more trips to the ED within three weeks because I was still so sick they took my gallbladder out and there was nothing wrong with that either. One star is honestly too good of a rating for this place.

If you can go elsewhere, do it. This city needs a new hospital or Every administrator in this one fired and completely restaffed. Any interest in a class action suit for sleep deprivation? This isn't the nurses fault, this is administrative protocols that cause this. They want to work in medical without having to learn anything, including the effects of interrupted REM sleep on recovery.

Horrible experience, Dr. Steinwig is one of the worse doctors I have seen in the emergency room. I thank God that I did not go into cardiac arrest because of his lack of insight and care. I entered the E.R., with a very high blood pressure. As my stay progressed in the E. R. my blood pressure spiked to 180/164. I felt very sick to my stomach and my heart and head were racing. He stated that this was a normal blood pressure for people, and basically prepared for my discharge. Even the nurse looked both puzzled and scared and asked me to sat a while before I left. Then Dr. Steinwig returned, where I had to ask for medication because I was afraid that I might go into cardiac arrest with a blood pressure of 180/164. He merely stated if you feel better I can give you a pill to lower your blood pressure immediately. I took the pill and left the ER with a very high blood pressure still. I called my primary care doctor who was very upset. She stated that I should have been hospitalized immediately and given the proper medications. That day, I know it was God who was with me because I felt as if I were going to die. Utterly unprofessional and unacceptable behavior from a so called doctor. It is my pray that no one on this earth receive care from this doctor. I could have died and he did not care. Please reconsider his position in an ER setting because no one should have to face what I faced in an emergency setting. Please remember his name Dr. Steinwig.

Yes
Debbie you will need to talk to the nurse. She will contact nursing supervision in order to approve a room. You can only stay if you are wanting to be close by with a current patient.
Coming in the hospital area, you need to go to the lefthand side of the building. Parking to the left, or use valet parking. This is the Terrace entrance.
Yes
7am until 9 pm is the visitation hour after no family or friends can stay over
Probably not with covid.
Yes. Centra offers this through their programs at Virginia Baptist Hospital.

They'll talk to you, find out what's going on but they will not necessarily have a room for you. I'm not sure what your question is?

You going to the emergency room or to visit? Follow the signs
Avante (now known as curis), Heartland and Guggenheimer are the closest I believe!
Just call the main hospital number
