My first Amtrak experience exceeded my expectations beginning with the staff and conditions of the Durham Station as I traveled to Charlotte and returned the same day.

Had such an amazing time for my family’s first train trip. The conductors and staff were SO friendly. Thank you for the great memories!

No, you do not; just your e-ticket/paper ticket, a mask and your baggage.
20 minutes
Is near West Chapel Hill Street.
Only train going north from Durham is train #80 in morning. You can go to Cary and get train 92 which makes less stops or train 20 from Greensbor that makes less stops and is scheduled to get to your destination earlier in the day
It's $25. The Piedmont has free water and coffee and vending machines. The Carolinian has a full bar and sandwiches etc. I've been taking the 6:09 or 7pm, depending on my week. But it's totally worth not stressing out driving or spending gas $! Main st Durham to N Tryon in Charlotte for weeks and weeks. Try to hit the Carolinian if you can. Just be careful if you get carsick to not be riding bw accidentally!
There is a screen on the wall by the door to the platform that has alll the upcoming trains and their scheduled arrival and new arrival should they become delayed. Also I would simply advise you to use the Amtrak app where you can at any time of your choosing go to the train status bar and put in the info for your train to check its progres. Through this same app you can earn rewards points, book or change travel, and check the status of other trains and connections.
Yes with a permit from the attendant within the station.

Do you have a train to beaumansvill pa or something near by
Original Poster here again... Looking at the Google map zoomed in, the train station is on one side of the track, and the bus station is on the other side. I will be on foot--no car. Can I just walk across the track from one station to the other? I can't see on the map any cross-over bridge or underpass. Can you add any detail? I will be arriving from the north on the train, arriving in Durham as the sun is setting, and then I need to cross the tracks to take the Triangle Transit bus 400 to Chapel Hill. I'm 62 years old with a rolling suitcase and a large shoulder bag. Where exactly can I cross the track to get to my bus? Thank you~~
Contact Amtrak at 800 USA RAIL or Greyhound (don't remember the number but you can also get the app). Both options require transferring in Greensboro.
