I do not recommend renting from Apple Realty. I would only rent from them again if there was no other place available. Only look at this company if you are desperate. It is not worth putting up with the hassle of getting them to do anything to improve their properties. The place I rented had not been updated since the 80s. There was a hole in the stairs where cockroaches lived. They did not fix any wiring issues in the house, so some lights were useless. The house LITERALLY was falling apart; a vent on the ceiling came crashing down after they were supposed to fix it. The response from Apple for fixing issues was lazy and rude. They did not care about us or the property. After our house flooded, they charged US for cleaning the carpet. Please avoid them, unless you really can't find anything else.

Update: After leaving this review and moving out immediately, Apple tried to rent this property again. It went unrented for 3 months. They allowed a rental scam to happen as the house was unrented where multiple low income families lost their fake deposits, showed up to move in, and never were able to. The landlord finally fired them and the place was rented in less than a month. This is the absolute worst rental agency you could possibly use as a tenant or a property owner. Never use this company. Old review: Want to be treated horribly as a tenant? Want your tenants to be treated poorly when they need simple things? Want the tenant experience to be so poor that they consider not renewing their lease when they actually love your property? Apple realty is for you. We’ve been tenants in a high price house in Durham for 4 months where we pay premium pricing (we live near homes that cost 50-75% of what ours does and we pay on time every month). In these four months we’ve had numerous negative experiences with getting basic help. The company acts annoyed when you need something and defaults to telling you “no”. They actively look for ways to deny you when you need help, instead of helping. I’ve been renting for 10 years and have never seen anything like this. It’s like the company hates its tenants and hates having to lift a finger to communicate with them. We needed access to our crawl space so we could store our lawnmower down there so it wouldn’t get stolen (there’s theft in our neighborhood, which they didn’t tell us when we checked the place out). We requested that they contact our landlord to give us a copy of a key. We were immediately told “no” and they said it was because you couldn’t put things in a crawl space because it would be damp and you couldn’t store things down there. Later, there was leaking coming from the crawl space and we reported it. They didn’t believe the crawl space had a lock on it and required us to send them a picture of the padlocks to prove it first. When they finally went to fix the leak, there was stuff stored down there (couldn’t store stuff because it was damp huh?). It was clear that they were just too lazy to get us the key and would rather lie to us. We’ve had no kitchen lights for a week now for similar poor customer service problems. We replaced the bulbs and checked the fuse and it still didn’t work so we put in a ticket. After 2 days of waiting with no communication we checked the ticket status. They closed it and said we were responsible for bulbs. Email or call us to check to see if we did that? Nope. Default to “no” is the Apple way of course! So we put in another ticket. We finally heard from someone via email 3 days later. Scheduling someone to fix it? Nope. Look for a way to tell us “no” of course! They simply emailed us saying to check the fuse (one light doesn’t go out when a fuse is tripped, it’s multiple things). They were snappy when I emailed them back saying we’ve done this and begging them to get us lights in the kitchen because we were tired of moving our living room lights onto the counter to cook. It’s been another 2 days and still dark in the kitchen. These experiences are legitimately making us reconsider renewing our lease, which is a shame because it went unrented a few months before we moved in due to the premium price. I grew up fixing my fathers rental properties, so I know how valuable it is to have tenants that pay on time for a long period. I had to put out this review to warn others out there considering them. You’ll be paying them a cut to treat your tenants like a nuisance. Ive already warned our neighbors and friends looking to rent their properties to not use this company. PS they were also mean to us when we tried to take the place, which should have been the first red flag (the person showing it said he didn’t have applications and we could go to the office to apply, showed up to the office to apply and were told to leave and fill one out online, great way to handle someone wanting to move forward on a place you haven’t rented for months)

It was great
