I am extremely disappointed in the SPCA. I found a senior dog at my house at 2AM this morning. I take him to a vet to scan for a chip. He has a chip so I call the info on it. He was registered to the local shelter. So I call them and they give me an address and phone number. I call the number and it is the original owner who ended up surrendering him to the SPCA in December 2019. So I go to the SPCA for them to get his chip information to get me his new adopted owners and they wouldn't give me that information. Instead they told me I had to pay $30 to surrender him basically for them to call his new owners. For ONE... SPCA should have switched the dogs chip information over to the new owners and TWO what happened to we are all in this together? You are going to charge me for wanting to help this dog go back to his owners?? It is not like he was my dog and I was giving him up. Completely disappointed. OH and then when I said you're charging me $30 for a dog that is yours? The lady goes "oh he isn't our dog, he was adopted" WHHAAATTT!! That dog should be considered one of yours for the rest of his life. Even if he was adopted out. I used to volunteer for a rescue and when we adopted a dog out.. we still considered that dog ours and we would help the new owners to cover medical bills, etc. because we helped save that dog so we considered it ours for life. So that was pretty shameful to hear her say "oh hes not ours we adopted him out" bottom line... I won't donate or volunteer for SPCA... ever. Very sad it seemed more about the $$ then the dogs. Please make sure you teach the owner a lesson about keeping microchip information up to date and a tag on the dog. I ended up finding out the new owner after posting the dog on facebook and someone gave me their number so I was able to let them know to do all those things to help that dog and where to go pick him up at. I am glad I paid you guys $30 to do all the work and help the dog out myself!

I applied for a cat Online but when i found out i wasn't gonna meet the cat before adopting it, i called with concern. I was told i could do a walkthrough so I did. I did not take that cat home. We just didn't feel a spark. But then i saw Mimi. She was so cute and perfect! She adapted so well, she was exploring the whole house day 1. Thank you SCPA!

I brought a friends pet here to be put to sleep. The people were very sensitive, helpful and thorough. Everyone I spoke with or dealt with showed concern for my feelings of losing a pet. They were quick and efficient and were good about their appointment times. They wrapped hun gently in a cloth and gave him back to me whene it was over. The only thing I didn't like was I wasn't allowed to be there with him in his last moments and felt like he went alone which is what I didn't want to happen. The prices was lower than any place I called and yet they were showed and expressed more concern and sympathy than all the others.

I got my bestfriend here. You fill out an application, and then they call you to come in. Once you're there, they let you spend as much time as you want meeting the pet, really deciding if they are right for you. I did not feel rushed at all. They had spayed her, given her shots, and microchipped her. Adoption fee was 100, which is insanely reasonable considering all they had done for her. Thank you!!!

Critters Without Litters has reduced cost spay/neuter. The Humane Society Thrift store at 2111 Brundage Lane gives out vouchers 1st Saturday of each month from 930a to 230p.
I have a male cat that someone left behind. I felt bad for the cat I fed him and he kept coming back. One morning he came to my back door and he looked bloated. I feel very bad for him. I can't afford to take him to a vet. Im on a fixed income. Where can I take him? Senora of 70yrs
You can most definitely take them here
Just call they will do anything to help
I believe $15-30 but they will be spay/neutered and possibly chipped
Yes they dont kill dogs so me people just make them sufer
If they have any available you can definitely adopt them. Also many feed stores sell them. You would have to look or ask for "small animals".
I don't know if any place you could get it done for free but there are programs that offer discounted services. If you Google it I'm sure you can find out your options. Or call the SPCA... They're very helpful 🐕🐈🦄

Turn it in at spca on fruitvale ave or Gibson st both will take them in
Take a pic and go on NEXT DOOR APP AND PAY THIS DOG, SOMEONE MAY KNOW WHERE IT BELONGS. are you going to hold THIS dog our take it over to SPCA???
I m sure they will
I hope you have found a solution to your situation. Yes, they will take him in. There might be a small fee but is a lot better than to abandon him on the streets. God bless and I hope this helped.
They are only taking sick or injured cats now.
Yes
I am not sure about an opossum...they are the only type here in America. I imagine they may inquire to CALM. They are more prevalent in the East. If you mean "get rid" as in euthanize, no! Only if really ill. They are harmless, but they just look scarey! (sp).
This is about adopting a pet. If that's what you want, they will help you in process.
I don't think they can help you might want to take it to a vet
I don't know but you should call them.
You have to book an appointment. You can email or call.
Yes they still take book donations period just call them ahead of time and they'll tell you where to drop them off.
Any dog shelter
Yes
I'm not sure about a baby Pomeranian. But I just got a three year old female Australian cattle dog and they charged me $100 for her. That included all of her shots her spay operation and worming.
Critters Without Litters..... is the Best Deal.
Take them to SPCA on Gibson
Just call and they will help you
I feel bad but my 2 dogs are my family
Yeah I would call Animal Control. Let them come and pick them because that's the safest way to do it since you got small children
Go down there and they will let you check
I would take them to the vet and pay for it however, I am a senior citizen on a fixed income and cannot afford it. I thought maybe one of the shelters would help out. They're not my cats they're wild.
Be prepared for them to send you away though. They might send you away depending on where you live - city or county.
I'm pretty sure you have to be 16, I could be wrong.
Yes I believe on the website
I believe there is neutered and spayed your dogs for free after you get them out of the shelter. For veterans it's free.
Ditto
Try posting on facebook, there is different sites on there like Connected and more also I would Google it, you would be surprised at what they come up with. Good luck 😊 Did you find a home? I know someone who is interested.
Your kitten should already be spayed if you are adopting from the SPCA. If it is under the required weight/age then they should give you a voucher for it.
If the animals are not yours there is no fee to surrender them.
Maybe check to see if there is a sanctuary for chickens, the other option is to have him for dinner.
Bakersfield Pet Food Pantry does but I'm not sure about SPCA 🐩
WTF, what kind of question is this?
Yes. Non-profit and privately owned
Yes they do.
Unfortunately they are closed, try to call and see if they have an emergency number.
You should be able to take them to the SPCA, I would call in the morning. Also try The Cat People.org.
The SPCA gets puppys. Puppy adoptions are $175. You can take a look on the website to see what they have. BakersfieldSPCA.org
I've never heard of SPCA doing this. I would look for a local Foster parent. They might be able to give you the information to one. If not there's a lot of groups for lost and found dogs in the area that also might be able to give you the information to someone willing to foster your animal for that amount of time
Going mutts is awesome....on white ln....next to smiths bakery
You'll have to call... No kittens without a mother :(
Yes they provide euthanasia to animals sick or fatally injured and at the end of there lives.
All you can do is google vet that offers payment plan and see what comes up.
Please call... No kittens without a mother
I think the area matters too on who you call
Check their website probably over 16 or 18 n older
Call animal control, animal neglect is an issue.
Best Friends has a program to trap neuter and release.
I agree....Its heartbreaking.....You would have to ask fish and game..
You probably can contact the AKC or UKC to ask them for some help or they might be able to put you in contact with the right organization.
I'm pretty sure they will take your cat. You might have to pay a fee to drop him off though.
Call animal control be safe!
Critters without Litters...just off of New Stein and White Lane
All depends if the dog is fixed, call for prices or go to the local shelter, it might be cheaper
They have them regularly. Id call them and find out
They told me $170.00 for a dog 0-6 months and $100.00 for a dog over 6 months. I don't know about the cats. I think they are too high priced!
It costs 30 bucks to turn in an animal.
Yes.
100bucks. But they will make sure the dog is safe to adopt.
You can go to their website and look through the dogs. It's always best to go down in person and have a look yourself. Same with the other two shelters.
Yup
I would call the SPCA directly and ask them what their policies are for taking in sick animals. I would also call the Kern County animal services and ask them the same question.
I heard 10 days
You can get a female cat fixed at Critters without litters for $55.
Animal control But I doubt they do anything but go out and talk to the owners of the chickens.
Kern county animal services
The vet will contact you if someone was to take her or him to a vet and from there you can press charges
At Critters without litters the cost for a female cat is 55. The male dogs will depend on their weight under 60 lbs 75. 61-90 lbs is 85 and the over 91 lb dog is 95.
You can call and speak openly with them. They will try and accommodate you.
Kern County Animal Services has $20 vouchers for low income families. Critters without Litters charges $55 for Females and $40 for males.
Depends on where you live. Also sign up for the NEXT DOOR app or program and post info that you see them running on whatever street they are on. Try to get a picture.
Call the SPCA.
