Construction going on.. if you never been here before very lost on getting in and never informed how. Tech fixed sign outside that says open @6:15am to the right time 6:00 am. He was very kind and good conversation! That made up for getting lost trying to get in. If You park on capital Ave close to park you have to walk around building. Bummer if your new to Sutter!

Sutter has the greatest doctors and staff. Was in the hospital for 6 days and every person that came my way were so nice and hard working.

I would not recommend Dr. Mai. Neither would I recommend Sutter Health. I brought my sister to the emergency room due to severe abdominal pain. Sutter admitted her to the hospital on February 12, 2022, releasing her on February 15, 2022 without the results of a colonoscopy performed by Dr. Mai. Additionally, my sister's blood work was abnormal at the time of discharge. A thorough colonoscopy was performed by Dr. Mai, but no specific results were provided aside from recommending a different procedure due to abnormal findings in the biopsies from the colonoscopy. My sister was contacted by Dr. Mai with these results and was not scheduled for the other test; she stated that her primary care physician should refer her back to the gastroenterologist. With all of that being said. I would have expected that Sutter Hospital would have recommended that my sister be treated by Dr. Mai. However, this was not the case. Furthermore, Dr. Mai did not accept any new patients. This is not true. Dr. Mai does not want to treat patients who are on Medicaid. In fact none of the gastroenterologists at Sutter Health are willing to do so, even if it means a patient's life is at risk. Prior to her hospitalization, my sister had been referred to Dr. Mai as her gastroenterologist. She scheduled an appointment several weeks in advance. The office of Dr. Mai informed her when the appointment date was approaching that new patients were not accepted. Currently, my sister is at UC Davis Medical Hospital, where she is being examined by a gastroenterologist. She will continue to be treated by the gastroenterologist after she has been discharged. Her bowel obstruction had not been resolved since she was admitted to Sutter Hospital in February. I highly recommend that you switch insurance plans if your plan is through Sutter Health. You should go to UC Davis in the event of a medical emergency. Medical staff is very knowledgeable, and the nurses and doctors have excellent bedside manners. In addition, they provide an iPad on which you can access your test results and contact your nurse or doctor. In addition, it contains information about nurses and doctors attending to your care. You can ask your nurse to change your sheets or to provide you with a snack if necessary. Things are not moving as fast as we would like them to, because there are many people in ICU who require tests, such as MRIs, much sooner than my sister. While they are not in a rush to discharge her, they are working to get her bowels moving without performing an invasive procedure that will be harmful to her long-term. Money or insurance should not be an issue when your life is at stake. No one can put a price on their life. Sutter Health does exactly that. Dr. Mai is no exception. Quite frankly, it's ugly.

GREAT hospital - from the security guard as you enter this super clean hospital, all the way to the anesthesiologists, this is top-notch facility for surgery. The doctors and nurses have a sense of humor, which means a lot to a stressed out patient. Everyone is fast and efficient, recovery and physical therapy is professional, the lunch food was even good. Can't say enough about this facility and would highly recommend them for medical/surgical care.

Can I bring a plant to give to a patient who is in ICU?

Doman Lum | Sep 8, 2019
Christina Warner | Sep 8, 2019

Maybe but probably not. Always check with the charge nurse before bringing anything to the room with you. In the case of plants and flowers it is usually because of mold that may grow in the soil or pollen that can become airborn.

There is a store and I believe they can arrange for flowers to be delivered but they do not carry an assortment for you to choose from and take with you. There are balloons, cards, stuffed animals, and many other cozy gifts. FYI, I am an employee at the medical center.

When I stayed there the visiting hours were 24-7. That's was about a year ago and I was on the surgery/recovery 4th floor. Visitors had to check in at lobby desk but could come and go as they pleased anytime. As far as I know the only restrictions were on I.C.U. and pediatrics.
