I love this place. Just beautiful! Very peaceful hike. You have to be careful when hiking because the rocks are slippery along some of the narrow trails. It's a long way down from the top to the bottom. You will enjoy it.

Lots of reviews and locals warned about large crowds, but the day we went in December it was sparsely populated, making for a really delightful visit. While the view in the fall is truly stellar, on this weekend with the leaves off the trees, there was some icy/snow at the base of the falls, making for great visuals too. Arrived around 10:45 am on a Monday and found about 6 cars; when we departed at 1 pm about half of the lot was full.

Beautiful falls!! FYI falls experience depends on the recent rains, more rain,, more water falling. Be sure to get to the correct entrance, there should be a park sign, parking lot, port-a-potty. 5 minute walk to the platform above the waterfall and 20/30 minute hike down to the bottom, lots of steps here!! Worth the trip from New Jersey!

Beautiful fall, worth the hike! The closest parking to the falls is the Laurel House Rd (sometimes long wait) and parking at the Historic Society is a 1.5 mile hike on the old train path to the falls. Once you arrived at the Lauren House parking lot, it’s a 0.3 to observation platform and 0.7 descent to lower falls.

Yes. And exercise lots of care while walking the trails. Be sure to stay on the marked paths and follow all safety related signs. You and your dog will certainly enjoy it. 👌
Hi, a wheelchair cannot be used on the trail but I'm not sure of its exact location they did make a parking lot at the top of the falls and they need a nice smooth path to a Overlook deck for people in wheelchairs. I think it's awesome whoever came up with that idea deserves a medal. I wish I had more information for you. I'll try to look it up on the net and maybe edit my reply for you. Okay I found it. On Google Map it is labeled as kaaterskill Falls viewing platform. Located on Laurel House Road, palenville, NY 12463. It shows a phone number 518-935-3735. The hour show 8 a. M. To 6 p. M. . This is a beautiful Falls you're in for a real treat. Enjoy your adventure. :)
Free all day but lot fills quick.
Yes. You can bike from the South Road Trailhead parking lots located just before the pay station entrance to North South Lake.
It is a lot. Small lot. Fits maybe 30 cars estimated. Cars tend to move in and out a lot. Recommend going to the bigger lot from the top of the falls if this one is full. The trail is connected to get to the bottom of the falls.
It also depends on if you are going up from the base or down from the top. It's easier going from the top but I would be very careful of the ice.
Yes you can bring your dog but it is a Rocky trail at points and it's a popular trail so expect a lot of dog lovers to stop you and ask if they can pet your dog. If your dog is well-behaved around other people including kids and other animals and you should have no problem but if you don't want to be stopped a lot it might be better off for you to keep your friend home and choose a better trail that your dog can enjoy more.. and yes I would be one of those people that would take a picture of your dog and ask if I can pet it. :-)
There's a Hugh parking lot at the top of the falls. Then it's a short hike and large gravel trails to any of the falls and sites. And parking is free. Don't waste your money parking in town
Icy conditions , very slippery
