Small and quiet campground with a lot to offer. Very friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of opportunities for beautiful views. The wildlife is abundant and easy to watch as they seem unafraid. Located right on the Appalachian Trail. Several day hiking opportunities from this location.

Nice campground with solid amenities. The bathrooms were very clean which was much appreciated. The ranger also gave a talk on the history of the place, worth checking out

Really nice campground as far as campgrounds go. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, the facilities were surprisingly clean and well-maintained, and the surroundings were beautiful. The general store had food, water, firewood, camping supplies, and most of the things you could possibly need, albeit at a somewhat inflated price. Cell phone service was spotty at best, but it was better than it was in many other areas of the park. Located pretty far south on Skyline Drive, but because of that, it felt peaceful and secluded. As a bonus, there was a trail leading from the campsite to Bearfence Mountain (my favorite spot in the park) which was part of the Appalachian Trail. There are around 25 or so campsites here and they go fast, so if you're coming during peak season or on the weekend, get here early to get a spot (we arrived on a Friday morning in late December 2021 around 9:30 AM and there were only two sites left)

Enjoy camping here for several years now. Much quieter than the other tent camping grounds.

Yes there is plenty room for you rv. . It's really nice and peaceful. Very family oriented. Dog friendly. Quiet time is at 10pm always!
You should arrive between 7/8am, you just keep driving through until you see someone getting ready to leave
$15, but no hookups. The showers are a ways away. I love this campground because it is small and not a lot going on
Coverage is spotty. There were spots where I could txt but not call with Sprint. My girlfriend had verizon and also had trouble. Ironically, i got the best coverage while hiking the trails
According to the.gov website NO hunting is allowed within Shenandoah national Park but there is a reserve where you can that is right next to the park.
Maybe and then again maybe not. I have gotten there on a Thursday afternoon (late April so still very chilly at night) and I took the last available spot. Why? A coming storm was bringing the AT hikers in for the night and then took up most of the campsites. I would try to get there on a Thursday to get a good campsite. When you drive in through the park gates they have a status board for all campgrounds so take a look at that and be prepared to go to Big Meadows or Loft Mountain which have a good amount of first come/first served sites
This campground is popular and can be full near the weekend. Hikers come off of the Appellation Trail in evening and can take any sites that may be leftover. This campground is not suitable for larger RVs . Sites are smaller. Make reservations at Big Meadows campground a few months in advance if you have a larger camper.
I am not sure. I have seen large family tents set up with plenty of room for chairs. Each site has a picnic table and fire pit.
As i recall the cost for a camp site is 15 dollars
Yes definitely. Randy the manager their is also very good for any information you need. Yhey have showers and laundry too. You can usually catch a ride up to big meadow wayside 7 miles up where you can get a hot meal and a little better supply of picking up resupply.. Both places take cards. Have fun and be safe
