There is no grace period. I left exactly in 3 hours. Minute to minute. But still was charged by $5.

I like the lights that indicate which spots are available. I love how many spots are available now due to the pandemic and that Nordstrom is doing curbside pick-up with dedicated spots. It used to be so full I'd have to park at the far end of the lot (like 3 city blocks away), which feels like a mile walking through a garage. I'd usually exit the garage, take the sidewalk, have to walk in an alleyway behind Macy's, be forced to walk through Macy's, and finally out onto the outdoor mall to get to the Nordstrom at the opposite end.

I live in Solano county and only come to Walnut Creek to shop 2 to 4 times a year. I’ll plan to shop, have lunch, and shop some more. I usually come with several friends to make a day of it. Parking has always been relatively easy and free. Yesterday, we got there at 10 am and left at 3. The “ new and improved” parking garage charged me $25 for going over 5 hours by 7 minutes! I had no idea there was such a limit, paid their exorbitant fee and left. As I told them, I will NEVER use that lot again, and probably will drive to Sacramento from now on or, more simply, will only shop on the internet. If the brick and mortar stores want to further reduce foot traffic, this is how to do it.

It's new, it's loud, and the exits are often confusing. I like the indicator feature but it also confuses you especially when they have smaller cars or just sectioned off a few spaces for asomething. Otherwise the fully automated nature is great. It has sufficient elevators and walking around the lot is well regulator and guidesd.

Yes, first 3 hours are free for the entire lot from macys down to nordstrom
3 hours are free but if you go over it, they charge you for all the hrs. They're tricky that way.
0-3 below 3 hours is free 3-4 hours is 5$ 4-5 is 7$ and a second over 5 hours is 25$
The parking lot is owned and maintained by Macerich. Unless you have a question about parking, that would be under Ameripark. They handle parking.
Tall ceilings in level 1 about 15 ft. The basement is 7ft
