A beautiful historically preserved theater on the East Side of Providence. Very old school, comfortable with a great laid back staff. Usually well curated programming and humorous 1950s pre- show clips to add to the atmosphere. My mother saw the first run of "Gone With The Wind" here in the 40's. See a real, big screen movie here as they are meant to be seen. Don't forget the Milk Duds.

Wonderful way to watch a film! Do not miss out on the experience.

everything a real movie theater should be. Independent films, foreign films, documentaries... all the great movies that are not mainstream. This is not the Marvel comics movie theater. This is where good movies are shown in a charming old-school atmosphere. Of course, the refreshments are real overpriced. But, the theater is great and it is on a fun area of town.

Wonderful afternoon at the movies! We saw the Sparks Brothers film here today - our first movie out since the pandemic and it was a perfect experience. Great, friendly employees at the theater, quality sound and projection, and real popcorn with real butter to boot! Beautiful old theater, and independently owned - such a rarity these days. Highly recommend!!!

As far as I am aware of there is only street parking available.
Nope! Some special events require prepurchase but general movies do not

No, it was filmed in cinemascope and surround sound so it had to be played on a curved cinemascope screen with surround sound. It's debut in RI was up the street at the Hope St. Cinema the only cinemascope screen in RI. I think i was 16 at the time so that would put it at about 1969! Cinemascope it turned out was just too expensive to film in requiring multiple syncronized cameras. So,... after a few movies were made it fell out of favor and they tore down all the cinemascope theaters. I'll never forget it though. I sat about 4 rows back right in the middle of the row. The surround sound was coming at me from all sides, in quadrophonic. To top it off i don't remember there being but a handfull of people there that day. Maybe because it was more expensive than the regular theaters. But it did play at the Avon Cinema in the early 80's. I took a bunch of friends there to see it because it hadn't been playing anywhere for so long.
