Filomena from the front desk was really rude. We were informed that you have to be 18 to visit a patient. She asked if my brother was over 18 because “she just doesn’t think he is.” We told her that he has a driver’s license and she can look at it, and she answered “So what?” Her rude comments was very offensive and uncalled for. This something that should not be tolerated. People are going through some tough times in the hospital and the least she could do is be compassionate, instead of being rude for no reason. How did she even get this job with the attitude that she has towards people who are grieving?

Danger, Will Robinson! My experience at this particular hospital was traumatic at best. I find it interesting as well that my review was deleted within days. Initially I was told I had a bleed on my cerebellum, which led to my agreement to be taken to RIH. Upon discharge I returned home to find that instead that it was a stable non-bleeding arteriovenous Brain malformation, one which I have likely had since birth, and one which is of so little concern to my own doctor, that he advised no change in my very, very active lifestyle. (50 mile bike rides and six hours kayaking being par for the course.) Yet for this ‘bleed,’ I was kept in the hospital for 9 days on an involuntary hold. ‘Bizarre’ behavior, likely the result of heat stroke, according to my uncle who saw the police report of the initial health and safety check, reinforced by a call to my employer, where I haven’t even been for 2 1/2 months, led to a discussion spear headed by a fellow employee who I had consistently reported for infractions of company policy. This coworker and others to whom he passed the phone, one of whom I also reported, having been involved in one of these infractions, two of whom started after I left, told the doctor I appeared ‘sped up,’ and ‘told stories that made no sense,’ referring to script notes I had posted on Facebook involving multiple universes, like in the Amazon Prime show, Man in the High Castle. Based on this information, I was told I was manic, and repeatedly pressured to take Zyprexa, an anti-psychotic so powerful it is also used as a first line treatment for schizophrenia. Upon discharge, I received paperwork that said, ‘apparent’ Bipolar Disorder, Mild, no Psychotic Symptoms and for this my civil liberties were stripped away. Also, on the only two occasions, one social, and one a brief unpaid training, to which my coworkers could possibly been referring, I had had one cocktail, which is my limit, my behavior more than likely attributable to the physiological effects of a substance, negating a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder/Mania, according to the DSM-5, which I own and have been taught to use myself, having attained the Master’s Level in my quest to become a psychologist. Is my experience representative, I do not know, but the number of one star reviews would seem to suggest that there does appear to be a problem which does need to be addressed, not by simply deleting negative reviews. The lack of compassion, exhibited by the four doctors I interacted with at this hospital, was disturbing to say the least, demonstrating a callous and blatant disregard for my civil rights, and more than a little bit concerning, which is why I feel compelled write this review in order to make my experience known, so that others might make the informed decision I myself was denied. I have also reached out to members of the press (investigative journalists), and will continue to do so on a near daily basis in order to ensure that others do not have a similar experience.

This place really has got some really top notch doctors, nurses, and workers. My surgeon was Dr. Thomas Ng. He is awesome! I was in intensive care's stepdown unit for 5 days. I had the rest of my left lung removed for cancer. Just about all of the people were as good as you get. My only real complaint was the food. It is horrible. I don't like to criticize without offering a possible solution so here goes. It appears there is no way to get the food to the patients within 2 or 3 hours of it being prepared. I don't care who prepped the food. If you let the food sit for three hours, it will be lousy. The scrambled eggs morphed into some crunchy unrecognizable yellow stuff. So here is my solution. The cruise ships know they have to move thousands of meals in very short time frames and they are really good at it so I would hire someone with the experience to get the hundreds of meals to the patients in under 30 minutes. Obviously, they would have to hire and train more people to do the job properly. That is unavoidable. You can't provide garbage to the patients that require decent nutrition to heal. So do! or Do not! As the jedis say. There is no trying!

I wouldn't even come here if I was a mere second from death. Staff is so inattentive and forgetful that I'd probably die in the waiting room anyway. Got here at midnight with a family member who was leaking fluid from an open incision, we waited almost an hour to be seen and taken care of. Still waiting for a discharge at 5 in the morning. 5 hours straight of rude staff interested in nothing more than making small talk in the halls. Staff that seem sick don't even wear masks and just cough without covering. Unprofessional and disgraceful. You'll probably leave in a worse condition than you arrived in.
