Dr. O is wonderful! One of his staff members needs a little help in customer service. Other than that excellent care of my shepard!

Dr. Bandele and his team at LA Central Animal Hospital have provided outstanding care for our 10 year old cat. We brought him in for a check up because he had lost a considerable amount of weight and was increasingly reluctant to eat although he seemed otherwise healthy. Dr. Bandele examined him and suggested that blood work be done as a practical first step to identify and/or rule out potential issues. He also administered subcutaneous fluids which gave our cat a nice boost. Dr. Bandele called us the following morning with the results of our cat’s blood tests and reviewed them with us in detail. Everything in the blood work looked good. I had been hoping that the test would reveal an easily treatable condition. Dr. Bandele suggested that we spend the next two weeks focusing on getting our cat to gain weight with a special diet and administering a dewormer in case the weight loss was being caused by a parasite with the caveat that we bring him back in if his condition worsened. A week later, he had lost more weight and was eating even less food so we took him back in. We knew that something was gravely wrong. Dr. Bandele took an X-ray, administered more fluids and gave him a prescription for a anti-depressant cream to apply to his inner ear tip to boost his appetite. A member of his team called me following our appointment and let me know that Dr. Bandele would call me the next day after the x-ray had been reviewed by a radiologist. The following morning Dr. Bandele called me with the results and told me that our cat had cancer in the area of his stomach and spleen and that there was nothing that we could do to treat it. I imagine that these kinds of calls must be one of the most difficult parts of veterinarian’s job. Dr. Bandele was incredibly kind and compassionate and took his time talking to me. He told me that our job was to love and spoil our cat and keep him comfortable for as long as he had a reasonably good quality of life. He also suggested bringing him in once a week for fluids to give him a boost. Given our cat’s his dramatic weight loss, I really thought that his death was imminent. I am writing this review nearly a month after his diagnosis. During that time our cat has gained nearly two pounds. Dr. Bandele’s program of prescription and weekly fluids has been a near miracle. He cautioned us that none of this reverses the underlying condition. At this point he has suggested that we can administer fluids on our own at home if we feel up to the task and just bring our cat in once very 4 to 6 weeks for a check up. We understand that our cat is dying, but for the moment he is happy and clearly enjoying his life and being spoiled by all of the people who love him. It brings us so much joy to have this unexpected extra time with him. We will always be so grateful to Dr. Bandele and his team for this. We will really appreciate Dr. Bandele’s thoughtful and practical approach focused on the animal’s best interest. He and his staff and have been prompt and excellent in their follow through. Dr. Bandele is a terrific communicator and everyone on his team has been so incredibly kind. We highly recommend LA Central Animal Hospital.

They fostered my fur baby (in 2006). He was well cared for for 2 months while he was there, before I got him. And he's been a Dream all these years! Would have made them our regular vet, but I live too far away.

Dr. Bandele is awesome. Besides an amazing doctor, he cares for his patients not for the money. And also cares for the pet owners. I totally recommend this doctor. He is the best. Dr. Bandele totally rocks. He took care of my baby boy Ewok very well.

What's the price range if I'm just going to get my cat's nail checked out? And will they actually do anything about it that doesn't harm my baby?

Johnathon Saravia | Sep 5, 2018
April Woods | Sep 5, 2019

Exam = $42, but don't forget there's a treatment cost too and it can vary. The treatment for your cat's nail will depend on what's happening with the nail. Dr. Bandele (and other licensed DVMs) are in the profession to heal - not harm. He may suggest sedation if your kitty's nail is painful.

Does this hospital have any avian veterinarians?

LlamaSenpai | Sep 5, 2018

I am not sure but I strongly suggest that you call them at the phone number listed on this map to see what they tell you, go over there in person and speak to someone at the front counter or visit their website for more information. I think doctor Vandelay specializes in curing all sorts of animals because he and his wife who work together at this clinic have a crow and they told my mom and me that they have treated him in the past when we took our French poodle named Sticker for consultation. Good luck to you!
