Tucked away in a quiet plaza, Gochi is a solid option for Japanese tapas! We tried: - Yofu Yakko: this seemed like a fusion take on caprese salad with shiso replacing basil and tofu replacing mozzarella. The idea was good, but the slices of each ingredient created awkwardly sized bites. - Yuzu Tori: this was delicious and the sauce was neither too sour, salty, or sweet. The grilled flavor of the chicken really came through. - Yuzu Kamo: I liked the chicken version better, but there is no gamey flavors here. The salsa gives an extra touch of freshness. - Gyutan Shioyaki: - Tororo Udon: it's okay, but the tororo didn't do well in the hot soup and quickly dispersed. I would try the cold version next time. - Yaki Onigiri: the absolute star of the show! The onigiri is so meticulously grilled that the crunch is so crispy and the aroma is so nutty. I got the salmon mayo topping but would opt for a plain version next time. After enjoying a couple bites, I put this in the leftover udon dashi soup for an almost ochazuke and it was amazing! 🤤 - Kani Cream Gratin: this was alright, the flavors of crab didn't really come through for me here. - Sweet potato custard: it was a tough decision between this or matcha creme brulee, but I'm glad I went with this. The contrast of the cold ice cream with the warm custard was excellent. The flavors of custard and the sweet potato worked well, and the touch of mint was refreshing. I'm definitely coming back to try more things, but also to get another serving of those crunchy rice balls! Parking is pretty easy here.

Gochi isn't as that much good as many people are saying. Pro: 1. Good Pizza and Eel Fried Rice Cons: 1. Long waiting lane 2. Below average Waiter/waitress service level due to lack of staffs 3. Topical Bay Area Trend - Expensive but just so so food quality.

The environment was really classic and the service was great! The food was decent and reasonably priced. They have a wide variety of menu items. All the things we ordered was good.

Honestly, this place has really good atmosphere and ambiance which is perfect for a dinner date. They have both regular seating area and the Japanese style with tatami floor dining area. However, that’s pretty much it.. Food wise - presentation was 4 out of 5 and taste was pretty mediocre in my opinion (3/5). They also never pick up their phone, so you need to do reservations vis Yelp. Once you’re there, a couple servers will keep reminding you about your time limit (for us it was 1.5 hr, which wasn’t too bad for my party).
